Doom 3. Anyone pick it up yet?

I just got it yesterday and all I can say is, "Holy Moly!" This game is the bomb biggity. And with such classic reminders of the original in there too. And creepy as hell to boot. If you haven't tried it. It is a must!

i have, i have to say that it sucks. comparing to games like soldier of fortune 2 and Far Cry. the graphics in doom are ok but shooting monsters and mutants is kinda gay. plus the weapons are too out of this world once u start picking up the ones that dont shoot bullets.
Doom 3 is only good for multiplyare, thats it. Im so happy i didnt pay for it. I'd pissed.

The game is good for maybe about 1hr... then it just sucks. The whole game is just a dark corridor runner where a monster pops up from around the corner you have to blow him away. You need to get a keycard and open the locked door. Kill more monsters and get another keycard. Repeat... etc...
It's also funny how all the monsters are in dark corners or hidden in secret "wall lockers".
I manage to run the game at 40fps on 1024*768 high setting (no AA though)... runs smooth.
*Intel P4 2.8C @ 3.2GHz
*512MB Corsair TwinX
*ATI Radeon 9600XT @ 575MHz
*2*73GB 10000RPM SCSI160 Seagate Cheetah (RAID0) through Mylex Acceleraid170 w/64MB buffer
Load times are about 15s per level. The graphics are top notch and sounds and dynamics are excellent. Physics are great however I wish you could blow peoples arms and legs off.
There are some complaints though:
#1 - the flashlight is a standalone object... you have to switch from the flashlight to a gun. So these marines have such advanced technologoy that have plasma rifles and whatnot but yet they can't ****ing tape a flashlight to the barrel of the gun? So in essence you are forced to use the flashlight to see, and then switch to a gun and fire blindly
#2 - DARK... ok it's past the point of creating some scary ambience... I am just pissed off because I can't even see where I am going in the hallways (this is with full brightness)
#3 - non interactable objects... you can't blow up boxes or break mirrors or anything like that. You can move boxes though.
I honestly wouldn't pay for this game at all. To be honest I've maybe played it for about 3hrs tops.
THIS YEAR:
-Farcry was more impressive and had better environments... it had a nice mix of bright daylight fighting, nice indoor fighting along with some sweet night locales.
-UT2004 is still the king of replay value... best multiplayer game in my eyes.
-Doom III is just a big tech demo which the Unreal3 engine will easily surpass.

I have had it for 2 days now and i think it sucks. I tried to take it back but they wouldn't let me since it was already opened so it's sitting in the corner with Battlefield Vietnam and COunter Strike Condition Zero. I even think half life 2 is gonna be a joke. I am not into thee alien games. I like action games like Far cry and stuff like that! but they keep on coming out with these crappy games!

Adam - look for a brightness setting or even a cheat code for brightness the original alien vs predator u needed to do this.
Cereal83 and all you ppl that dont like alien games simple response DONT BUY THEM IF YOU DONT LIKE ALIEN GAMES geeze lol they're all the same they're all meant to be the same lol.

I have a 1.7 but i have a 128mb video card... so i dunno.Wonder when they're gonna come out with a Duke Nukem like these gamez lol
