Dog related (more specifically APBT's)......

I know this subject has been beat to death here, but this is something new for you guys to read about that happened after hurricane Rita in New Orleans.
Quote from a friend that I agree with fully....
"Check out this link that I got from another board. The pics are cool and show the abilities of a dog when it put in a situation to fend for itself and find food. The sad thing is they shot the dogs for doing what nature intended. Now I know I may get alot of slack for saying that but I don't know too many people that don't have a hamburger every now and then or daily for that matter. All they had to do was simply give the dogs some food. When you look at the pics compare them to some of the old time bull baiting pics and you'll see there not that far off and I think if the dogs had been allowed to finish what they started they would be alive and that bull/cow would new orleans porterhouse! The one sentence I found hilarious in the article is where the writer says they were bred for fighting as if he knew the owner of the dogs prior to the flooding that forced these dogs into the street to find food for themselves.
Anways here is the link to the article and an old bull baiting pic:"

I'm curious what some Canadians have to say about this article. Can I get some different people than the usual also give their two cents this time please?
I'm still/always concerned about breed specific legislation here in Canada, one reason being that two of our dogs have Old Family Red Nosed Pitbull in their foundation. Another being that I grew up with APBT's & other bully breeds, & feel I should help defend them.
Our dogs that absolutely love their owners & people in general....
Sorry for the post being so long!
You've probably seen it, but if you haven't, here is the The "Pitbull Problem" Flash Movie..... http://www.pitbullproblem.tk/
Keep in mind I often use these posts elsewhere on the net. Thanks for your time! Have a great weekend.

it the poeple that your dog doesnt generally like that need be concerned. he may generally like most people, i feel sorry for the one that he doesnt like, could be a child or another harmless dog or an intruder. the problem is pitbulls arent very good at telling the difference it would seem. people down there were starving to death and you wanted the police to give the dogs cheesburgers . have you gone mad, they killed the dogs becasue they were scared that they would attack a human, if their instinct was to kill a cow who's to say they wouldnt try to satisfy their hunger and eat a person. i cant believe that you are so obtuse that you think these dogs are nice and that you think the police should have tried to help the dogs. the cow they tried to kill serves a more usefull purpose on earth that those dogs
its also interesting that you didnt include the finals pics where it shows both dogs dead

It is amazing and beautiful to see these incredible dogs fulfilling their biological hardwiring. Unfortunatly, the idiot who wrote this article obviously knows nothing about fighting breed dogs. The phrase I found most telling in regards to the writer's dim wits, was the statement regarding fear that soldiers would face attacks from packs of "marauding pitbulls". He should have been shot for spouting such garbage!
Throughout my life I have seen other breeds biting, attacking, scaring children for life. No Pits. A girl I went to school with had a ****er spaniel that was left alone with her newborn on a bed. When she returned the poor little girl was severely attcked, & needed numerous stitches. Very sad, but not a pit. I have total faith in my dogs not doing this, not that I will ever take that chance with my daughter, I'm more responsible than that. A pup that I bred is now 6 years old living with my friend and his two baby girls, they are best friends, inseparable. The girls love their dog & my buddy thanks me all the time for him. My cousin on Van. Island was chased down & mauled by a Dobi, it bit him on his face resulting in numerous stitches, hell he won't even park next to a vehicle now that has any type of dog sitting on it's front seat. It's very pathetic IMO. Should Dobi's be banned, how about ****er Spaniels?

No, just the dog owners who's intelligence fails even in comparison to their animals.
I believe this sentence you wrote is actually in the dictionary under "contradictory":
"I have total faith in my dogs not doing this, not that I will ever take that chance with my daughter, I'm more responsible than that."
Defro - a bull is tasty but don't write off the dogs; a dog can be a fine meal too. You just need to season it right.

Think beyond the box people.....
Just because most people, probably yourselves included can't handle the responsibility it takes to own a APBT means the whole population should be punished?
I honestly can't see them tasting to good. Especially a Pit, would be a bit tough I think.

That's it we'll just punish APBT's as a breed because most people are barely intelligent enough to handle their poodles.....
