no and yes, there are people that are legally not allowed to drive because of conditions, Inhibitors such as marijuana alter your reaction times, Sometimes make your reaction slower...Sometimes this is a good thing though!! lol.

well this could be true if you were driving a formula 1, reaction time would be critical in that case.

but other things also alter your reaction time, like talkin on the phone or texting, listening to music loudly, talkin to a passanger on the back seat, lookin at the map/gps, doin make up, counting change for a coffee, needed to go to the washroom, arguing, eating - these are things that we do while behind the wheel all of which alter our reaction time and speed.

there are plenty of natural inhibitors as well, driving in heavy rain or thick fog for example, but those are not punishable offences.

Well for one I have never been high, I am one of those guys who really took to heart the messages about not doing drugs* on arcade games back when those existed haha.

I do realise alchool is a drug though and I do get some of that hehe.

I believe being high is pretty much as bad as being drunk when driving, and of course this has been proven in tests. The difference between being distracted by talking to someone is you can instaltly stop or the distraction lasts only for the lenght of the conversation however when under the influance of a substance you are inhibited 100% of your drive (unless it's a really long drive hehe).

this is not true of women who can be distracted 100% of the time while behind the wheel.

well in comparison to alcohol, alcohol is a mind altering substance. where as most light drugs arent. you also would not be able to ride a bike if you are hammered. however, you can ride a bike without any problems if you are high on marijuana for example.

Id rather drive along side of cheech and chong rather than britteny and tiffany texting eachother on there blacberrys.......call me crazy but most who are stoned focus better when there high.
I dont mind you, allthough i have socially and know the effects of a ocasianal smoker.
But there are alot of people out there that have been smoking for years, and i know a few. For those it has become a part of there evrey day life ammuned to the "high" and pretty much need it to function.I do have a freind that would cause accidents if he WASENT high.
This is were i say i think it should be as legal as booze but governed in the same way because the effect varies so much. Its prolly the reason they cant make it legal....One guy can smoke an ounce, the next guy gets one wiff and hes counting sheep.

That's not to scientific to me hehe. I have riden my bike when drunk.
I have found that people who think that mari is better then alchool for driving are people who are uninformed or that simply really like their pot

I have seen plenty of shows with talking doctors and read articles about the negative affect that pot has on the brain and ones reaction time. It is a myth that pot won't hinder your driving skills. That's not to say other things such as cell phones don't.

Of course it's the same for some medications that makes one drowsy.

mari is not better than anything, im not arguing that at all. it is a drug and it does hinder some things while enhancing others. just like alcohol.

but i also agree with the quote below. people who drive stoned do tend to focus more behind the wheel when they are stoned. i think it has to do with the inevitable feelin of paranoia, which forces you to focus on everything around you while behind the wheel.

back in high school i used to drive high a lot. the only things i've done that i would not do if i was sober were stopping at a stop sign and waiting for it to turn green (as if it was a traffic light), or putting on the turn signal (without doing any lane changes) when the road begins to curve.
