What is a decent digital camera these days? Looking to spend around $6-700 for a decent camera. Need something that is user friendly, comes with decent software, and of course takes great pics. So far, the wife likes the Kodak DX7630:

because of its huge LCD screen, but it doesn't seem all that user friendly? I like the Canon's, and have heard great things, anyone use one? Any oppinions appreciated...

stay the hell away from kodak, they are absolute ****e you minus well get a pile of money and burn it cause thats just how good a kodak is. in the wonderful world of cameras the only brands you should seriously look at are canon or nikon. i use a canon a40 for doing digital art and it works awesome, takes a wicked beating for the money it doesnt get better than canon. you can see what the pics look like here http://infinion.deviantart.com

They are all so good, that it really comes down to ergonimics and user menus that you can relate to.
Unless you are looking for Pro level features, go with what feels good to use.
Personally, I'm so picky about camera equipment that it takes a Nikon D2H to make me smile.
