Dell computers?

My last two home computers have been Dell. I think they are a good value & offer great support (on the rare occasion I've had to use it).
Their extended warranty was also a decent value I thought as I did have the motherboard fail on the first one after four years so I purchased a four year package from them for just over $100.
The new one is just over a year old now & not a single issue.
I would highly recommend them.

My only gripe with Dell, and a lot of other companies of the same suit, is that the parts they use aren't the greatest. Now by that I mean, if you buy a Dell with a P4 3.2 ghz for example, that chip will be lower quality than say if you went to a computer store and bought a boxed retail chip...
This doesn't really affect the average user, as the main differences are that the Dell chips can't be over driven like the retail boxed chips can, same follows for their motherboards, and Ram. They work just fine, just are lower quality than stand alone parts...

Good for the money the only thing I can't stand is the customer service. While if you have a problem it does get handled promptly you can't get it handled since you can't understand the customer service reps. I've called on a few occassions for GF's that had Dell's and I couldn't understand a damn thing the Hindu operator was saying. A friend of mine from work ordered a package from them and got the wrong monitor. She called and hung up on two occassions due to frusteration. Finally she called and told them unless she could speak to someone that spoke english she'd be sending her PC back and getting her money back and getting a different brand. They then transfered her to another Hindu man who spoke 'better' english. And she got it sorted out very painstakingly.
