Breeding has come along ways for bullys but its that very thing that screwed them up in the first place. Average life span is 8 to 11 years, lost mine at 7 but was very good up to that date; had to lose her chair at 4 so she wouldn’t throw out her hip and stopped making her jump up to play so often, you have to watch out for things like that from day to day….. KNOW your breed and that will help keep them safe and healthy more then science diet dog food. As for Wight that’s my fault and I took full credit for it, she died happy though let me tell you, her last days well filled with micky D's cheese burgers and chicken stir fries. She always got some human food but it was always healthy stuff ( like chicken stir fry ) ok well it was healthier then what I ate most times.

Maybe you should not have said something as stupid as this... "That was my last "pets are family" pet. Now, if the animal needs more work than it cost, well... Cold hearted? maybe.", and I would have kept my mouth shut knowing your a poor/bad pet owner. You don't even know what a puppy miller is, yet you accuse me of being one. A prime example of a puppy miller is the breeder if you want to call him/her that, that you got your mix-breed dog from. Repeat breedings SHOULD BE very rare & for special circumstances. You remember back when you first offended me about that? Well you stated that your for lack of a better term 'breeder' has been doing repeat breedings, am I correct? Thought so.
Ok - maybe my statement was too harsh. I already stated that I do place some additional value to a pet but not, obviously to the point you do. I do not judge you for being a redical PETA nutcase but you feel confident to judge me for being a simple pet owner.

I'll tell you one thing one time though - you have already inferred to my capacity as a parent and now call me a poor/bad owner. I would tread lightly friend. You don't know me that well. I don't abuse animals - I just do not feel they are equal to a human. Mentioning my kids in any derogatory fashion is a bad idea.
In fact, Mr I Think I Know.. My dog happens to be a rescued animal that was going to be put down for lack of a home. I gave her a home with two children to play with and an owner that does not abuse her. Again, what a monster I obviously am again. Maybe start listening?

As an interesting aside to the above - when my future pet was resuced they rescued 9 other dogs from the same place. Two others, unfortunately, had to be put down on the spot as they were completely unnaproachable. I will give you a single guess as to the breed they were...

Oh - and the $3500 surgery was what a co-worker paid to get the knees fixed on his Rottie. True, that is different from displaysia but it was merely an example.

What I remember from our prior exchange is you saying this board sucked *** and you weren't going to come back. You did though. pity.
</font>[/QUOTE]Yes your statemant was too harsh. It is a pity you can't recall what you said in our prior exchange. I think I outlined that though. My parenting skills were questioned in this thread not yours. I was refering to those people you said you've known, as we all have known people/owners like that. I'm no PETA nut case, just a good pet owner. You calling me a puppy miller is no different than me thinking that you are a bad pet owner because you made statements that were "too harsh". I find that much more insulting! I'm not your friend, so please don't refer to me that way.

I'm not quite understanding what you mean about your future pet. I'm sure in our prior exchange you said you had a mix-breed dog from a breeder that's has been repeating that breeding because they were such good family dogs? I'm remembering wrong?

That $3500 charge sounds a bit extreme to me.

It's a pity that my views on pet ownership aren't shared by more people. I think there would be far less dogs etc in shelters.

Icon I'll try to address your post later on, sorry.

Sounds like you were a good owner Icon, my hat's off. Agreed, knowing your breed is very important! Also agreed that poor breeding practices is what scewed up those poor OEB to begin with. That's one of the reasons why we chose to go with Renascence Bulldogges. They are a free breathing, free whelping(for the love of the breed, better the breed, etc)bulldogge, among other physical improvements over other lines of bulldogges. These dogges are almost impossible to get involved in though.

The name "Renascence" (not to be confused with the word "Renaissance") means "rebirth". This name is fitting we believe because our Renascence Bulldogges are supposed to be a recreation or rebirth of the larger more physically functional athletic Bulldogge that existed from about 1820-1900.

The name Renascence Bulldogge was picked out and Trademarked by Chadde JoliCoeur to represent the style of bulldog the RBKC is seeking to promote and reproduce to protect the interests of those involved with it. This was done to prevent other people and other registries from attaching and wrongfully applying the RB name to their bulldogges and bullbreed crosses.

Chadde JoliCoeur and Jody Willingham started the RBKC when both had became frustrated at the total lack of uniformity and consistency between the modern alternative bulldogge recreations currently being produced and labeled under the "catch all" name of Olde English Bulldogge. Dogs being labeled under this catch all term can range from the original Leavitt OEB's to that of a large longer muzzled mastiff type dog to that of a bigger version of the modern EB to combinations of every thing in between.

Because of the vast physical and health differences between the dogs being labeled under this catch all term and the confusion it creates, Chadde and Jody assembled a dedicated group of breeders with established bloodlines who's breeding program's were all aimed at producing the same style of Bulldogge to be the core breeding foundation of the RB breed. This group devised a standard and a registry to help promote, maintain and improve the athletic functional bulldogges they were creating between them.

Sorry for such a long post, just wanted to give YOU a background on the bulldogges we own. We don't intend to do any breeding at this point in time. Our dogges are still being evaluated with local police K-9 trainers. We also will want them to reach full maturity(2-3 years) before we will even consider breeding them. We are also having another male placed with us in the coming years.

I too think these dog posts are way over done here, and was really surprised to see another. I only got involed in this discussion because a member(I think we know which one) that had offended me in the past about my dogs, made a statement I completely disagreed with. Even then I tried to keep my mouth shut by just posting a vague comment like "true colors", and was baited into this and antagonized with phrases like "monsters", "pity".
