computers

I was just surfing ebay and came across a computer system the same as mine. I am utterly blown away that a system I spent $1200 for, just four years ago is going for $86 cdn. This leads me to believe that a computer is one of the worst investments someone can make. Does this make anyone else sick? Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.

Computers are one of the worst investments you can make. Once you take a new computer home it's practically obsolete. They're practically obsolete sitting on the shelves at the store because new ones are already being made that are better.
I bought a computer about 3-4 years ago for about 700 dollars. It wasn't the best you could get at the time, but it was up there. I asked a used computer place a few months back what I could sell it to them for... They offered me 10 dollars. LMAO!!!
Yes, horrible investment!

Exactly cars are the worst investment. I build mine by upgrades, it's never gonna be the best. Dad built 'the best' when it was the best and about a week later there was something better. It's endless and always will be. So I resort to having what is good to me not the market.
One of my friends spent $1,700 on a computer 3 years ago they got ripped big down because about a year ago it turned into the biggest piece of crap and I took alook at whats in it and I think there wasn't even 128mb of ram how do you make an XP system with like 96mb of ram honestly??? Future Shop SUCKS

I always thought spouses were the worst investment you could ever make
Computers, like just about everything else that goes obsolete, is a very bad investment. I would never buy it on the hopes of making money back from selling it years from now. They're making them almost disposable.

so long as you buy a decent computer to start with, there's no reason it can't last a couple years. Sure the technology will improve and there'll be better stuff out but not like it won't run. I had my first computer for like 8 years. celeron 400. I upgraded the ram and hard drive, and put a burner in for myself and a video card shortly after getting it, but that lasted me quite a while. Granted it couldn't run all the new highend games.
But so long as you do things right the first time, there's no reason why it shouldn't last a couple years.
(I do agree that they come out with new technology fairly quickly)

But you can always mute a computer too though.
