Think you can squeeze 6'6" into that sweet ride? LOL!

Seriously, if you can go the commuter/summer ride path, do it. You can then get a real special car like a boxster. The accord or camry would make a great commuter.

I am VERY well insured and have $0 deductible which is OK. I am pissed that I lost a lot of my top CD's and DVDA's.

Well, now I have to get a new car. I have a new Maxima as a loaner which is OK, but I think, as HARDWRKR suggested, I will check out the Lexus IS and the new BMW 3 series.... Maybe a Subaru WRX STI?

Or buy a basic Honda Accord for commuting and get a used Porsche Boxster for summer? Suggestions?
That's crazy. There is a very professional ring of car theives going around Montreal. They have stolen about a dozen SRT-4s which for their value are very difficult to steal. They can not be hotwired due to the SKIMS system.

The resellers of these cars are getting smarter and not so much using "fake" VIN's anymore. They'll usually have a contact within the Ministry of Transportation/DMV and will find a similar vehicle to the one stolen and then manufacture an identical VIN plate for it. I've seen three SUV's in Canada and a Fourth in the US with the same VIN code. All four were identical black Yukon's.

An easy and quick way to tell if someone has tampered with a vehicle's VIN code is to find out what type of rivets the manufacturer uses when attaching their VIN code to the vehicle and make sure the same ones are on the vehicle you are looking at. Often the reseller will use a standard round rivet when another type was OEM.

True about the Boxster. The only 'bottom' model to buy for a higher end Euro is an M3.

That bites about your car. I'm always curious how new, snazzier cars get stolen. It did have a somewhat sophisticated factory anti-theft system no? Doesn't prevent a tow truck from hauling it away though. I've seen your average F350 trucks with those wheel lifts tucked under them too so who knows. And having bad seeds work at dealerships isn't unheard of either. The special rivets on VIN plates is a good one though. A friend of mine had to have his VIN plates reinstalled due to a major accident and a guy from Chrysler had to install them at the body shop. Still doesn't prevent counterfeitting even of the special rivets.

Just hope they don't find the car before the time period expires. That way you can get a new ride. ICBC out here has an optional policy that if your new car is up to 3 years old and is totalled, you get a brand new car, so you would get a new 06 instead of them trying to find a used 05 with similar mileage and options or getting jacked on their appraised value of the car.
