While I am pretty computer savy. I have never had to transfer files from one computer to another. I know I can move stuff to disc and bring it to the other computer but I was hoping to just hook the computers straight together and get it all done a little easier. Anyone know the detailes of what I need to do?

to hook up multiple machines you can either use a router/hub/switch or if you dont have that you can use a crossover cable(if both machines have network cards). If you dont have network cards then use a null modem cable. Transfering files isnt a problem but some other things will be. If you want an easy way to transfer your email and such use e-backup by inachis which will also do your favorites and any folder you choose. As for transferring programs I would suggest reinstalling them and only transfer the data files

^^^ Well, I've got like the whole zip/installation packages on my old computer. So I'd just transfer those and then install them on the new comp. So you're saying that if I hook the two computers together via ethernet cable? Or do you need to use the crossover cable? They are damn near the same thing aren't they?

Ethernet cable has 2 types, straight through (from computer to router/hub/switch) and crossover (from computer to computer)

This is a good idea and I thought of it. But first of all how hard is that to do? And secondly I kinda didn't want to do that because I didn't accidentally want to get something bad from the old computer onto the new computer.

^^^ I dunno, possible spyware that was buried so deep in the registry that it is still there. Any other type of bugs that were on the previous drive. I just don't want anything jumping to the new clean drive and doing anything to hinder the performance of the new computer.
