Anyone Play Ice Hockey?
#1
Just wondering if any of you play? If so what position? Any good? What levels did ya play at etc?
More so interested, as i work in a sports store and wonder what you're all using for equipment and such.
Myself: been playing hockey since i was 3 years old. Still playing or least try'n to now at 20ish years of age. I'm a tender, have been for i dunno how long...long time. Played some good hockey....made a Northern Alberta Allstar team that played all over the country when i was younger - but quit cause i didn't wanna drive 4h each way 3 times per week for a practice.
Other than that....clearly minor hockey and juniors and all that crap has too much politics, so i wan't much interested in that. Soon as i could i got into beer leagues at about 16/17yo whenever they'd let me start playin.
Now our store rents the ice weekly and at times we actually get some pretty good players out, in the off season, there's a lotta college guys and junior a/b guys as well as an NHL'er here n there.

I've been playing since i was 6 years old. Stopped for 2 years while im at school cuz i dont have the funds to go back and forth from home to school and such, also turns out the teams up here are way more expensive and most women like to 'stick to their own' instead of letting new ppl in to take their spots lol
I play goalie have since i was 8 years old, been playing competitive ever since i started and i love it and i miiiiiiss it so bad lol
For hockey equipment.... Goalie Pads i use MCM's (I love 'em) Trapper i have an MCM Rattler to match and my blocker is a Bauer brand new one used for like one season love it too couldn't find the matching set for the pads unfortunately Sticks I've never used anything other than KOHO, to be specific the 550-570 and up series. I wanted one of those TPS rubber boot sticks but they're $$$ up there. Skates Bauer of course (i love those too), helmet is an itech lookin to change the cage to a cat eye, i need a new chest protector and the pants im not sure what they are but they're goalie pants lol.

ive played since i was 4 or 5, and this year is the first time in my life i havnt played organized hockey. just played minor hockey (OHMA) all the way up. been invited to and gone to some junior c and b camps. last year was my final year of midget for minor hockey, and we won OMHA and OHF, got some pretty nice rings and jackets out of it. probly coulda played junior C this year, i was trying out with two teams but niether one of them really talked to me at all so i stopped going. a couple weeks after my coach from last year was talking to the coach from one of the other teams, and he said he wanted to sign me. oh well.
a friend of mine lives up in kitchener, and plays on a jr. c team near me ( bout 2 hours from kitch) and the team pays him 400 a month, and they send a guy down every weekend to pick him up for the games and drive him home after.
edit: oh yeah, i play pretty much anywhere except goalie. mostly wing though.

played AA and AAA hockey we won silver stick, that was the highlight of my minor hockey career. Nothing beats the tournaments, going to the states and owning them 11-2, 15-3,12-0 and then destroying an indianapolis "ALLSTAR" team 16-1 , showin those kids how the game is really played, ask any kid who played travel hockey and they will say the tournaments were the best part and they will prolly have a great story for ya too.
