1995 Chevy Cavalier

I paid $4995 for my '95 Sunfire about a year and a half ago with 119,000km on it. Now at 162,000km and the only major problem so far is the overflow tank exploded in downtown Toronto, apparently due to the radiator fan dying. That was fun... Passed emissions this year no problem, even with the good ol' 2.2L OHV "engine knock."

We had issues with out 98 Sunfire Gt only issue was Trainy, but that was me beating the **** outta it.... if u had the 2.4 engine they where pretty decent, girl that use to work with me has/had a 96 I think with about 240,000km and went just as good as our car with 60,00km on it..

Thats all those cars are worth Zach tho it does make me wonder how ppl get the same money for 2nd generation Z24's as they do with these 3rd gen's. Transmission is crap. If u really wanna find a 'cavalier' look on the jbody site lol
Would make you wonder whats really wrong with it if its the same price as a 2nd gen.

^^I am assuming you arn't talking about yourself because, oh, nevermind:P
I would say get a comp. test done (or do one yourself), and if you don't do your own bodywork, possibly get an estimate, and definatly take it for a nice test drive, on all road conditions, bumpy, smooth, fast, slow, ect.

I'm not hard on my vehicles at all. I can do body work on it as well. I'm going to look at it today and I will bring my digital camera to snap some pictures of it.
Most likely I will get it I think if I like what I see and what I hear...

My wife and I have had a 96 Cav Z24 for about 6 years now. I had an Acura Integra before and was always an "import" guy because of the quality and was afraid of the "crapalier". However, the car has been great. In that time just needed new water pump, rear struts, and some bushings in the front end. It is very well maintained and not abused at all and has been very reliable to this point (bought at 56,000km and now has 162,00km).

I have a 93 cavalier, with the 2.2, 5 speed. I asked a shop to take a look at the tranny one time, and they looked at me like I was a moron, I just thought that a look would be a good idea, but they told me that if you don't beat it hard, then the tranny will last forever. I just did the head on my 2.2, cost me 500 bucks all in, with plugs, wires, thermostat, head gasket, oil pan gasket, and 6L of high mileage oil; as well as getting the head pressure tested, machined, and the valves re seated.
They're a solid car, and if U take care of the body, it'll give U another good 100,000 no problem.
