will these two work together?
so i am interested in getting a jl 13'' tw5 3 ohm sub woofer and was wondering if i could run it using my alpine pdx-5 which says it will do 300RMS at 2 or 4 ohms?? this may be a dumb question... but i dunno...

Judging what I just read on the JL site, I wouldn't. Very low efficiency, shallow mount, odd coil configuration... Is this the only sub that will fit your vehicle? Also the fifth channel on your amp is 300rms tops at 2 or 4 ohms... With 300 watts I would look for a more efficient sub... JL goes on to state that it has high power handling, ie 600rms but with a 85.87 db 1/w/m you will need all those watts to get it loud.... from what I recall an Alpine type X 12 has a higher sensitivity.. Happy hunting

We have had great luck with the Pioneer shallow mount 12". They are not overpriced right out of the gate like the JL Audio (a great sub just massively overpriced at dealer cost). I have a couple in stock that would work for you and they are starting to overstay their welcome here (as in they need to get sold on sale).

What truck?.. I often do a pair, or quad 8's in the GMC' full size pickups. F150's I do a single 10" shallow in a ported enclosure. F250 Ext, cab, 4 8's, F250 Crew cab, pair of shallow 10's....
You have many options
