Which way is louder?
#13
OH BUT NEW QUESTION.
What if I want the woofer facing upwards? Suggestions on that?
I'm going to be building a box this weekend for a Boston SPG555.
Should I have it facing upwards? or pointed towards a certain direction?

subs should be facing forword , all of the loudest trunk cars have been that way subs forword , port in the middle or port on the drivers side , subs facing up probably wouldnt be loud and might launch your subs since the top of the trunk wouldnt be far from the sub

subs forward will yeild best results for db but if you want it to sound better and be more responsive toward the bumper will sound way better. Also if you do subs forward you will find it to most likely be louder pushed all the way back to the bumper and then sealing it off from rest of trunk. I havent done the sealing off yet and with 2 12's I am hitting 147.5 usaci and 145 idbl.

its not a guess , take a look at the loudest trunk designs , such as rob w's car , and terry brocks new trunk car both designs are subs facing forword and both do 153 plus so those stats dont lie , might sound better off the mic turned around but its not louder , and it doesnt take a scientist to realize if u put a sub a couple inches away from a trunk lid or roof it will launch after time
