The problem is now with the rings.

I am trying to do the same thing in order to make
custom speaker grills.
The way i`ve done it, its ended up weak.
I used a dollar store bowl(plastic cut into strips) and stapled it to the wood ring.

How I see it, the fleece will stretch over the plastic and not the wood. http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...608_7_full.jpg

Since the plastic strips arne`t fastened down securely, I dont see how the
rings will be sturdy either.
If the plastic that runs around the edge of the wood ring baffle is stapled and not excessively tall, it should be fairly stiff. In the second pic, what is next after the fleece is stretched is to then have a plug that pushes the fleece down into the center cavity there. The plug can be the same size as the baffle ring. Tape the plug up so resin doesn't stick to it. Get the fleece soaked in with resin, then pushed the taped plug on top of the baffle ring. Screw it down to the baffle ring. After the resin hardens, remove the plug and you will be left with the hardened fleece that has pushed down into the cavity. You can them trim and sand the fleece back to the edge of the plastic ring.

About making the sides aroung the rings. When I was installing we used a material that you bought in sheets. it was black and kinda a platic/paper composite about 1/8" thick. We would cut strips of it on the table saw and stapled those around the rings. It was very sturdy yet flexible and worked awesome. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and where I could find it?
