The rings shown are mdf wood and dollar store plastic cut and wrapped around the
wood rings.
The plastic was kinda flimsy so I tried reinforcing it with fiberglass.
Its still brittle and flimsy.
I dont see it being all that strong once I stretch fleece over.
How do you guys do it? What sticks to plastic?

I don't get it. What is the plastic for?? [img]graemlins/dunno.gif[/img] What you do is tape up the area around your kick panel and the carpet, then lay down some fiberglas mat and resin it. Let dry. This is now your base for the kick panels. Trim them to a nice rounded shape or however you want them to look. Position your wood rings where you want them on the base and glue into position with 1/2" square wood sticks. Then you stretch fleece over top. Check my sounddomain pages to see a couple of kick panel builds I have done. Might help you out.

3-4 layers of 1.5oz chopped mat is what I recommend for the floor casts. Always works great for me [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img]
It looks like you have one layer of light cloth on there. It's not enough. Use mat on what you have now if you like - add a couple layers to stiffen it up.

Dukk, its plenty think now.
The problem is now with the rings.

I am trying to do the same thing in order to make
custom speaker grills.
The way i`ve done it, its ended up weak.
I used a dollar store bowl(plastic cut into strips) and stapled it to the wood ring.
How I see it, the fleece will stretch over the plastic and not the wood. http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...608_7_full.jpg
Since the plastic strips arne`t fastened down securely, I dont see how the
rings will be sturdy either.

Seahag, Once you have the fleece resined and hard, you fiberglass the inside of the fleece, onto the wood baffle securing it all together.
I do prefer the method DWVW suggested, Use a 1/2" ring to create the edge, like this: http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...43_21_full.jpg

I dont think I have the room.
Maybe I`ll find some real plastic and
contact cement it.
The problem is that the resin isnt sticking to the
plastic
*Chev2 is that 3/4" or a 1/2" thick?*
