Taps and Dies - drill bit size help!

I'm going to be securing my a pillar pods to metal and need to use a die and tap!

Just to refresh my mem - It's been a long time since I last used them.

I'm using 3 - 1/4" bolts.

My questions is what size hole to I drill into the metal?

Thanks Julian
