System upgrade - wiring question

My system is pretty simple right now, a head unit (Nakimichi CD-500 + Nak 5-disc changer in glove box), an amp (Nakimichi PA-2004 - 4x100), Dynaudio 6.5 component spekaers and a 10" sub (Boston G5). The amp has two channels going to the Dynaudio crossovers and the other two channels bridged for the sub.

I am wanting to add to the system; one Nakamichi PA-2002 amp - same as the one I have but 2x100 instead of 4x100. This amp will be bridged to power the sub and an AudioControl DQXS electronic crossover/signal processor. This frees up the Nak 4x100 amp to run the Dynaudio speakers and with the DQXS in the mix I want to run them without their passive crossovers.

I currently have 4 AWG wire from the battery (100A fuse at battery) to the trunk of the car (10ft?) to the Nak 4x100 amp.

Is that wire going to be sufficient for both the amps and the electronic crossover or will I have to run a bigger one? I know I need to get a power distribution block, but I am unsure what gauge wire I can use from it to the two amps and the crossover.

Thanks for any advice.

A bi tmore info. Nakamichi says this about the 4x100W amp's current draw (http://www.nakamichi.com/pfv/ICE/Amps/PA2004.htm):

Current Consumption
with music, 4 ohms / Channel (avg.) Less than 40 A
with sine wave, 4 ohms / Channel Less than 70 A

Does this mean I would be OK to use an 8 AWG wire from the distribution block to this and the other amp with a 50Z fuse?

I would keep the 4GA from the battery to the distribution block and send 4ga to the 4ch and 8ga to the 2ch. Fuse the 4ch at 80 amp and the 2ch at 40 amp

Whichever amp ends up running the sub will be the one drawing near maximum amperage even at moderate listening levels; The one on 6.5 components will be on easy street. 4AWG Should be plenty sufficient for 600w RMS

I found the manual for the 2x100:

Current Consumption:
with music, 4 Ohms/Channel (avg.) < 20A
with sine wave, 4 Ohms/Channel < 35A

This is the amp that will be bridged to 400w for the sub. So 8AWG to this 2x100 amp with 40A fuse and 4AWG to the 4x100 with 80A fuse? I have a 2-way distribution block, was thinking I'd need to buy a 3-way but after looking at these useful pages here (http://www.bcae1.com/fuses.htm) maybe I can run a smaller gauge wire out of one of the outlets along side the power wire to the amp, just fuse it separately?

From the DQXS manual:

Power draw . . . . . . .600mA
Recommended fuse rating. . . . . . . . . . .2 Amp

So could I run a 16 or 18 AWG wire out of the power dblock alongside the 8AWG wire for the 2x100 amp, and put a 2A fuse in-line close to the dblock?

Thanks again.

Stick with 4ga for everything, if you have the ability to. When it comes to power, bigger is always better for efficiency

You would be fine with 18g out of the distro for your processor.
