SWR's cut out at high volumes
Ok so I've got
Kenwood KAC-9152D ( Supposedly Stable at 1 Ohm )
2x SWR-1242D's wired @ 1 Ohm
Piece of crap Q-logic box
I'm running 1/0 gauge from my battery back to the amp with a 150 Amp ANL fuse inline.
1/0 Gauge hits my trunk, goes to a distributor, and then feeds my amp via a 4 gauge wire.
I've got a 4 gauge wire running from my amp to the chasis.
All connections are solid.
When playing music stupidly loud, the amp will cut out after a period of time ( Few minutes or less, depending on how loud ) and then turn back on by itself.
I had my gain set a bit too high before ( Was causing *serious* dimming ) so I've turned the gain down and still the issue persists even without my lights dimming excessively, so I'm thinking the issue isn't voltage related.
I have a hatchback, and my amp is currently mounted upside down above the box.
When I reproduce the issue and watch the amp, the only light on it goes out and there are no hot spots on it, it's just mildly warm.
The reason this is kinda odd is because I had 2 Pioneer champion series before also dual 4 ohm wired up at 1 ohm and I had no issues whatsoever pounding the out of those.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

It's possible that the amp being mounted upside down and not feeling very warm, may be overheating inside and can't dissipate the heat. I'd try mounting it right side up temporarily to see if it still does it.
If the kenwood was powering the pioneers in 1 ohm mode previously...then it's 1 ohm stable.

I'll pick up a multimeter and check. I remember reading that the subs aren't actually 4 Ohms, they're actually 3.87 or something to that effect, so the amp may be running at .8 or .9 ohm.
I really don't want to have to buy a new amp as feeding these subs 500W @ 4 Ohm seems like a crime.
I'll also try reorienting my amp. I need to move stuff around to connect my 5 farad cap anyway.

I was kinda hoping it wouldn't be a low voltage issue. I do have that cap, but it's not going to address the problem of my alternator not putting out enough power. Having some issues locating a HO alternator for my 2007 focus too.
Damn you Ford.

I swapped the Pioneer's for the Type R's on Monday. Previous subs have been in for ~4 months?
They were also wired up at 1 Ohm ( 400W RMS per sub ), and were being pushed pretty hard, however they started to sound like garbage the louder they got, and the Alpine's don't have that issue so I guess these are getting pushed harder.
