subwoofer install

Hey My name is Dalton and i'm working on my first subwoofer install, all done by me. I've got a few questions That are preventing me from moving onward:

First off, I took off the dash(which now rests in my back seat) only to find the deck i had bought only offers 1 yellow rca jack as the subwoofer option. Its a nextar deck from canadian tire, nothing fancy. It also gives me the options of running 2 sets(red+ white) rca cables labled rear and front, what im wondering is can i hook into those rca sets or is the mono subwoofer jack my only option? does it even matter? I'm running an xplode 1200w amp with 2 10's in the trunk, would stereo vs mono make a difference?

should i just replace the deck and forget about the nextar unit? being able to run both cords would be nice if its necessary, and I can buy a clarion deck for $175, but im looking for other options as well.

My second question is in regards to MDF and box construction. The speaker box I have come up with has the speakers on either side, with the amp in the middle, and everything is tilted back 15 degrees. the speakers also face inward 15 degrees, what i was wondering was is the 3/4 mdf going to be able to hold up on the angled edges, and will it be a solid enough connection? also im pretty sure i messed up the volume calculations, ill try and post a picture of my design and maybe i could get some help. I cad'ed the whole box up a few months ago to acquire all the dimensions, so far its looking like a 3 pc box that connects to be 44" long, 15.5" tall and 15" deep, at the largest points. Fits under the rear window ledge in the trunk.
Thanks for your time!

Dalton

Subs are meant to be run mono thats why there's only one rca jack. A lot of the newer units come like that so i would just run it. The nextar isnt really a great deck but then again neither is the sony xplod amp.

That's a great deck. I had it in my old truck and i loved it. One of the nicest units with the best features i've ever had.

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=18769 im thinking of that deck, as i really like the aux outputs i've got on the nextar.

so if there is just 1 rca cable going to the subs, do i run a y splitter to the cables that i've run or just pick one and run it off of that?

thanks

I use No More Nails to glue together the sides and then use screws to secure it. I also use the No More Nails to seal the box from the inside as i heard silicone fumes can he hazardous to subs.

thanks ill pick up a splitter tommorow.

any reccomendations on the deck? its either the deck i posted or an xplode deck thats on clearance for $150 at canadian tire, model 420 i think, i installed one in my sisters and was quite pleased and it has sub outputs and the aux jack.

Sooner i get the new deck the sooner i can stop driving around with half my dashboard sitting in the back seat haha.

oh also my rca cables have what appears to be a ground wire running through them... i guess i'll just tie this in to ground some where on both ends?

thanks!

I personally would not go with Sony products in car audio. If you're looking for something cheap then go for the Pioneer deck you posted. Also look into some Alpine decks. Their quality is top notch and have a lot of cool features. You can't go wrong with either Pioneer or Alpine.

I've never seen groumd wire running through rca's and don't see the point . It's probably a remote wire.
