Also if you look at your picture you can see the wire is "smooshed"...bet that where your issue started...also this is exactly why you are suppose to you fuses...

If you look at your pic, where the "smoosh" is, the burning starts at ends there...hmm....

This isn't spontaneous combustion. Nothing spontaneous about it.

Just stupidity.

its all fixed. i did it myself.... prolly gunna stop by selective or audio haven if nothing else today regardless..
btw i called it spontaneous, cuz it was very random, like im driving along nothing. i put the car in reverse, and smoke just started coming out of the steering column like crazy. song wasnt heavy, bass wasnt heavy, wasnt loud- volume was actually relatively low- since we were all talking to one another when it happened... there were 5 ppl in the car.. so yah trus. it was very random. howver that wiring was stupid. i jus found the card of teh place that did it. Canadian Auto Sound on eglinton and danforth.. its beside a strip club called caddys or sumthin lol. im definetly not goin back to him.

I know the place your talking about theres a old pink caddy comming out of the wall right.

I thought the new hondas had a place that you could get your remote turn on by the kick-panel like the g6's can.

Anyways when you re-did it was the wire that was going to your ign wire solder'ed on or did he just twist and tape.

yah thats right where the pink caddy is... and nope he dun solder it. man- he did the chinciest job ever just cleared off a peice of the wire, and twist and tape. very disapointed and ashamed to say i gave these guys 80 bux for that ...i want my friggin money back.
i heard bout that too.. but i cun find it... lookd around for a bit on 8thcivic nd cun find anything pertaining too it either, dont kno where i read it. so i ended up just finding and testing some random wire in the back, once i made sure it wasnt constant power i just tapd that. i even put a kill switch in, just in case. damnn my install looks clean

The remote wire isn't going to pull anymore current when the volume is louder.

Did you at least solder the wire?
