16 awg should be fine.
Brands don't make much of a difference.

Since Dave isn't chiming in I will, wires have some effect but the cost seldom warrants the cost. Many dealers offer deluxe lines and many feel that is just to fleece the customer. I concur to a point since the deluxe lines have pretty colors and high prices they entice the customer to say 'they must be better'. Many, not all, of the top competitors feel cable makes a difference. I do too and have thrown a lot of money at interconnects and speaker wire.
One of the nicer products with reasonable cost was an ATS product (American Terminal?) called Platinum Fission. Spiffy name, but the cable was plane Jane black zip cord, 12 gauge, and sounded darn good for not too much money. I upgraded to Kimber Kable but the difference was significant but not profound (so the ATS was decent stuff). I have used the cars original stereo wiring on previous installs and got pretty good results too. The aftermarket stuff has a bling bling factor but this isn’t an image discussion.

I've only ever been able to hear a minute difference in sound between really poor quality speaker cable, and high quality speaker cable. And this was in a home audio environment. I'd just make sure you get decent stuff with an AWG thicker than 18.

I'm using Monster Cable 16awg twisted speaker cable which does the job nicely, however I purchased it with my employee discount at best buy last year. Dont think i'd ever pay retail for it, thats for sure.

Are you asking your pixies to get 'the behind'?
Or are you asking the pixies to get behind you?

If you mean the second one then it would be:

"Get THEE behind me pixies"
