space filler

my freind is looking to put in a standard sized deck into his car but he has one of those chuncky stock decks, what is the best/cheapest way to hill that lil gap. what i am thinking of doing is just get a lil bit of aluminum sheet metal to just bolt into the small space, anyone get any better suggestions?

go to a store, and unless its a really old car you should be able to buy a speacial peice that will fit right in and make it look nice.

not many places that sell stuff like that and it is just a old grand prix. i am just looking for some cheap and quick

Use a dash kit as suggested or use your idea. Instead of metal why not find some plastic sheet to use. What ever you use, paint it to match.

Old or not, ugly is ugly.

i was thinking about using aluminum so i can polish it up to give it a nice finish to save money on paint, and i don't wanna use plastic cause it looks cheap

Lol. You are worried about a $10 can of spray paint? Is there anything else metal and shiny in the car? Keep in mind, thats a quick fix that will be looked at everyday the car is driven.

he is only gonna have it for a while, also i work at a hardware store so that can of $10 spray paint only costs me just over 3 bucks

For the sake of the $10 or so that the right size and shape install bracket will cost, it hardly seems worth the aggravation....

i work with metal a lot so it is not much aggravation, also i think that the plastic things look cheap and tacky

whats the point of replacing the stock deck if only having the vehical for a short period of time?
