Adam,
i just find this hobby to be so all consuming some times...but still can't help but love it. if i could i'd give you all the help in the world...
i'm just dying to see what else happens to those lucky door skins...
thanks for the compliments. i have different issues with the pictures... hopefully should have them up by tommorow. i was supposed to have it already but the individual i was purchasing it from was very unscrupulus so i backed out. myself and Plow will be importing a couple units within a month hopefully. i can't wait to get it in and hook it up...

Good job ...should sound very good. I did everything you did except I made my custom spacer angled out of aluminum. you can see pics on my website. I never though of spraying the back of the panels though.

Glad to help Adam Looks like you are doing those doors the right way. I did some door pods for Chadxton's Lancer. Pics are no my sounddomain page. I used a wood tunnel as well and built a stand-alone pod arrangement so I didn't have to recover the entire door panel. It took a friggin long time but didn't turn out too bad.

Very nice Adam, from start to 'almost done' a detail oriented job. Dukk was worried about a symmetric enclosure... but it wasn’t symmetric hehe. The level of forethought is impressive.

Adam you have now been called an audio god.... but we already have one false audio god.... does this make Dukk a Titan? The Titans were the original Greek gods until Zeus came along and threw them out of Mt Olympus.

Um...everything I do to the car takes a long time...good to know I'm not the only one.

SUX, I like that "hinge" you used on the kick baffle. I"ll try something like that myself I think...good idea! I'll probably stuff a face towel behind the mids and play around with angles for a day or 2. Of course I'll be taking a few pics, and I'll have the RTA in the car to quantify things. My wife has just ordered a software upgrade for the RTA, so I should have some cool new graphs to show when I'm done. (My wife rocks!)

With regards to the picture quality of what I've taken. I cheat, I use insanely expensive gear and do a bit of photoshop work. I'm usually in quite a hurry, so I don't optimize lighting conditions or do to much work to compose the shot. Once I'm done the install, I'll take my time and shoot much better pictures.

John, thank you. What you don't get to see is all the time I spent hmmmmming and hawing. Dukk would have known how to approach it right from the start. I'm a beginner, but I took my time and it worked out.

That's a funny analogy, thanks for the laugh.

Adam

^^^Dukk, I felt you brought up a valid point. In fact, with my midrange driver, I'm going to extremes to give more room for the driver to breath and apply better sound aborbtion.

You never know, maybe some more deadening near the driver would improve the sound. I don't have the experience to discount the idea, so I'm not going to knock it until I hear it.

Of course, a bit of humour can be nice. I take this stuff too seriously sometimes.

Lord Dukk keeps his thrown.

Nice setup...It does take alot of planning when installing a speaker in the doors, especially if you want it to look and sound nice...I don't have the option of cutting my factory door to install door pods...I'm going for the factory look.

Does anyone know how to post images onto this forum? Do I need my own Web-sight to transfer the pictures from?----

Adam, the swivel/hinge thing I tried didn't work out all that great but I didn't put a lot of time into it. If you can expand on it and make it work, then cool! What I found to be a lot better was to use two lengths of plumbing strap each bent into a U shape. One end gets screwed to the back side of the baffle, one to the front sidie of the kick. The baffle can then be pulled and pushed and angled and the strap provides a fairly decent support while remaining flexible. A little towel support helps but you don't have to rely solely on them. I found it really hard to have the baffle resting on towels and getting a stick and glue gun in there to try and get the position set. Just not enough room to work in.
