The deck does indeed have a ignition wire, it is the red wire and must be hooked up. The orange / white wire is the dimmer wire, I usually do not hook this wire up in most cases.

Good call.. I think I would feel more confortable with a dedicated power line and ground.

Hmm how is it a faulty install if the wire doesn't work? Ask Chris he was right there beside me! The damn thing didn't work.
