Should I?

Yeah a wiring harness is good, but they aren't all built the same. As Chris B can atest to this, my aftermarket harness ****ed up on the weekend and some of the wires don't work anymore, I'm guessing they're really cheaply made and the connections becomes worse over time.

I personally would rather cut, solder and heatshrink the install as I plan on owning this car for many years. This is how I did my last deck on my SUV and I know it will never f*** up on me. But this deck is a bit more high end then that and was just wondering. I will go ahead and check out a harness, but if it looks cheap I will hard wire it in.
I am also installing a Alpine MPR M350 amp and 10" sub. I plan on running an 8 gauge wire and a fuse from the battery. Should I need anything else other then that? Other then speakers wires of course.

Johnny, must be a faulty install then .
My opinion is that cutting the factory harness out of the car is GHETTO.
I would forsure solder the decks wires to the new harness.
Your amp wiring/fusing sounds fine to me.

The harness's are made to fit the vehicle.
Comes with all the power connections, speaker wires, illumination, power antenna (If needed), etc.. Everything that the new deck needs hooked up.

Ok..heres crossing my fingers the factory harness has these wires runing to it. I know the deck doesn't use the ignition power source. I beleive the Eclipse also has a headlights on wire too for when you turn your lights on. Should be fun figuring it all out

The deck should use the ignition source.. This is the switched B+ connection. Its what turns the deck on/off with the car.
If the car doesnt have headlights/illumination wire.. Then you just dont hook that wire from the deck to anything. lol Unless you want to trace a wire from the headlights..

This deck is ignition independant....don't know why. :S I have the car repair bible...so worst case I will run a new wire for the head lights feature. I really wan't this feature as the lights on the deck are supposed to go green and my dash and interior lights are all green(factory).
Just doing my research before I dive in.
