Second Battery Install Question

if i wanna put a second battery into my trunk. Do i need to run the ground wire from the front battery under the hood to that battery too or can i just ground that battery by itself in the trunk. I know they have to be run in parallel but i dont wanna have to run a second 1/0 gage wire thourgh my car again to the ground of the second battery then ground it again in my trunk. Any advice helps..

Grounding to the vehicle will work fine. Do fuse close to both batteries though on the positive line for safety. I see too often people will fuse under the hood but not in the back. This is for YOUR SAFETY!

Ok thanks
Oh yea the only reason I wanted to do this was for my dimming head lights cause my amp is power hungry. What's your opinion should I just replace the front battery with a optima yellow top deep cycle battery or go with putting in a second battery anyways?
My system is sucking somewhere around 2200-2400watts

I've always been a fan of adding unless your current battery is on its way out. The choice is yours though.

I strongly reccomend running both the positive AND ground between f/r batteries. There are many benefits to tying both together not only for charging, but for voltage to the stereo. You're going to run a new cable anyway, why not run two?
You may want to do some reading of other opinions and make up your own mind.

Adding a second battery won't stop your headlights from dimming.

I recognize the second battery becomes an additional unit for the alt to charge, but if your amps(s) draw more current than the alt can provide, is a second battery not the best, cheapest solution short of a huge alt? Adding my second battery changed my situation from a couple pulling over in front of me because my lights dimmed so bad it appeared I was flashing them, to no dimming, with no other changes.

Yea that is very problem I have! All my lights dim pretty bad it's not a grounding problem just lack of power. But what do you guys think of the optima yellow tops.. Is it worth buying an just seeing if that fixes my problem? Or just keep my stock battery an put a big kinetik battery in the back but running that ground wire from the first to the second battery is gonna be a pain cause it's hard to hind an it's so thick there's not any holes in my firewall to Put it thorugh beside where I ran the first wire but that's already taking up a lot of space. You'll be hard pressed t find much support for Optima batteries around here... Nonetheless, my vote is the 2nd batt. Ground it in the back if you have to.(but fuse it both front & back for sure!)
