Interesting. I think it has to do with where we live - further up north. Our location must translate into one or two of the satelittes being more off axis <proper term?>. Triangulation is better if the points are more apart. I think I'll bypass the VSS altogether for now and see if the freakin' thing works. The VSS wire is supposed to keep things from falling apart when going through tunnels and between high buildings - where the satellite signals wil be interrupted. Other than whipping through the Deas Tunnel every day for three weeks of the year, I'm good.

Thanks, Disco DUKK, for the thought.

Damn the stupid thing doesn't work very well without the VSS wire connected. It's pretty sad, actually. I find myself heading into lakes and rivers.... hahahahaha.

Anyone know where I can tap the wire into? The Ridgeline uses an Alpine Nav for its top of the line model. According to the service manual only the nav model has the wire harness with this wire. People on the Ridgeline owners forum helped me locate a wire that comes out of the PCM under the hood, but the wire is very difficult (next to impossible) to get at without removing a whole whack of electronics, reservoirs, hoses, etc. I'm relying on you experts/masters for help.

Found the right wire. Now the thing works flawlessly. Man, talk about great features! I love the Alpine unit. Only off by less than 50 meters. It will only improve with more driving -- until it is fully calibrated.

Thanks, Furley II, you da man! I followed your lead and it worked. Should have known... with 4 wheel drive, all 4 wheels have a pulse sensor.
