We were allowed one more sub. I wanted more industrial styling so we went with RE for it.

Now for some reason we can go all out, we don't NEED anymore but...

How about one 1 15"... 2-12" .... 1-10".. Thats actually the plan right now for the next 6 weeks. We're going to use the 10" between the rear captains seats or that area in a downfiring box at 8 ohms on the lil wonders sub channel. The other 3 subs in a custom box(I hope)on 2 of the xt2000ds at 1 ohm

Too much!!! Are you old? J/k .. Just enjoying the rebirth of a long lost hobby I suppose Red.

peace
Rebirth??....hardly.....haven't stopped since 1974......

Multiple driver types and sizes playing the same frequency range have always sounded worse than matched drivers.....if SQ is not a consideration and the only goal is volume best of luck with it......

Actually meant that I was enjoying the rebirth red, I figured you were hatched from the stereo egg long ago...

I believe you about the driver sizes , we are working towards having only matching drivers (just 2 'good' 12's). For now, we'll just push the spl for kicks with whatever we got. Hopefully by the time the june show comes around, we'll be set.

I did actually get to notice what you mentioned about sounding worse with different drivers. We just went with the 2 12's for a couple days, I could hear the sound quality change ....Add the 10 and it is louder but like you said, not near as quality.

Thanks bro

Finally finished the sounddeadening on the rear gate. Being rushed for time as always lead to a less than best job done, fit and finish wise... .. but its done enough for now.
I think the toughest part of it is remembering to poke the clip/guide holes you still need to use, as you cover them with the mat. We need some new clips..lol

At least tapping the outside of the gate gives off a nice solid sound
We plan to get the rear half of the floor done next, then the sliding doors and some spot deadening wherever needed. Thats all we'll be deadening I'm pretty sure. Not the roof/front half of floor.
Who know how much SPL could we possibly gain by completing the interior? Since we have less than 2k true rms.
Hope its enough

Tried the new ported box and 2 12's yesterday. The sounddeadening is NOT enough yet, Seems like the mat needs to be right to the edge under the rear door skin, The edges literally flap and smack the metal with the bass...lol
Gotta fix that!!
Many thanks to Big red, DS and any others that convinced me to go ported, and helped me match the box and subs..
Bro's still moving so work is going at a slooow pace. Hope to get some more work done soon and post some pics.

The important thing is your moving forward and learning along the way.

We've all been there at some point. Thats why I like this forum... no matter what level of "loud"/experience you are, theres someone on here "louder" and with more experience usually willing to help you take it to that next level.

Amen man..Just like everything else, the more I learn, the less I realize I know.

The Soundstream digiital eq failed!! Lasted about 2 days before it powered off and wouldn't turn on. Double checked everything, wires were fine, the HU that shares the wires was still working. It didnt smell burnt but it wouldnt power up.
I wasn't that impressed with it anyhow. Seller takes returns though, so I'm covered.
Good thing too, that helped me to upgraded to a touchscreen SOUNDSTREAM VIR-6500 dvd/monitor so we can ditch the Panasonic and fill the Double DIN opening with just one unit instead of two. Should help a few things.

Gotta get some thrash/testing time in before that June 7th show!!
So we can feel like newbs for real...lol
Think I'll play the Barney theme song .

We added some more fatmat to the rear gate and the edges of the plastic covering. No more flapping...
But I guess the SPL needed somewhere to go, so it FORCED its way out the window, pushing out/rattling loose, who knows , the right rear power window(the back louver type on vans) connector/pin. lmao

The window just flaps now instead of the plastic .. Gotta get a replacement pin soon.

Here's a pic the new box and our ghetto amprack we slapped together for now. Still just using one amp for it at 1 ohm.
Its a prefab, Subzone ZV series - 1.5 per chamber at 38hz, it destroys what I had anyhow, I'm still thinking I should corner brace the insides before we run the second monoblock and the new subs, whatever we get.

And a pic of the "closed" power window. This is something my bro's lady nor mine can EVER know!!

Should be installing some little goodies this week. Mostly small but important electrical parts etc I learned I could use . Again, thanks guys, CCA
