We got the US Amps xt2000, the Stinger Hybrid cap, and the untested 6x9's hooked up today, They all work. WOW.. so we hooked up and the soundstream on the original mids/highs today, while we wait for the pods and the comps., we also need to get the dual 12 box so we can run both RE's, and make it to a better stocked shop so we can use the EQ. We are using the XT2000d at one ohm to the ported 10dvc and the seal 12 dvc. With some luck we'll get the wiring and the box this weekend. We have nothing worth pictures, but I took some anyway... I'll figure the problem out.

D - We're gonna do just that, thanks. $400 is the SXX 15
" 1000 w rms 2ohmDVC we want..hehehehe ... Then we'll think about a battery.

Anyone have a ballpark figure on what a sealed custom made/fit, MDF built/carpeted with 2-12" and one 15" all in seperate chambers sub box would cost, any recommendations for ppl in Ontario that can make it?

Would the programs online make it possible for ME to make a proper box?

Uploads keeps failing!!!
I need computer help too
Sounds like a lot of work for those subs....I am curious why you have the oddball in there.....2 12s in the right box and you don't need the 15 for anything......

Personally I would go one way or the other....ditch the 15 and use the $$$ for something else or ditch the 12s, buy another matching 15 and build a killer box for them......

HTH

I guess I forgot to mention that the machine bolts we got at Home depot didnt fit either .. But I did find some proper size machine bolts that night at home.
So the next morning we get a little time to put the EQ in but we didn't have the RCA's anyhow so the EQ isn't running yet. Didn't even bother the fit them properly yet, still too much wiring to bother.

It still felt too cold to work in the driveway , so we took some gear inside to put together a test of the xt2000D on 1 re 12 sealed and the O2 10" ported, one ohm load. Was as easy as eating pie.
We ended up getting the PG mids/highs on the Lil wonder along with the 6x9's in some wedges just for now also.
NO gain and they're still right on the brink of sounding... well...byebye tweeter on crappy pioneer 3 ways!! No worries, the new comps will be here this week!!!

The pics are of
-headunit/eq unfinished
-whats in the Poncho for now
- one real crappy pic of the xt2000d - everything was wired and working before I thought of taking pics. I can't work my camera,I didn't want to possibly pull out wires, so I just snapped this.

We're gonna use my bro's camera from now on. He can use it

We did manage to debadge the back hatch mostly, all adhesive except the Pontiac symbol does have very small holes behind it, but not rivetted , so we're still going to put in the work and clean it up totally. I wish we could shave the wiper.
Put Fatmat on the license plate/holder also. Worked well, but the hatch NEEDS to be done soon.

I can't really rate the amp, haven't pushed it at all. And this is my first d class amp of this size sooo...for the money I'm happy so far.
The Stinger 5 farad hybrid cap was a easy install. Its the black box on the bottom right of the ported box.l. Seemed the hybrid of the two types work well together. Hard to tell with so much change.

Should be quite a week upcoming if we can find time to travel a bit and get some thrash time in.
Since its not finished, we throwing some different ideas around also.

BigR- The LIL wonder and the ported 10 was the original size of the stereo we were "allowed" by his lady.
After we took the stock rear storage bins out, his lady realized how little she used the back and so...with the extra space and some promises of no electrical fires .. We started adding.
We were allowed one more sub. I wanted more industrial styling so we went with RE for it.

Now for some reason we can go all out, we don't NEED anymore but...

How about one 1 15"... 2-12" .... 1-10".. Thats actually the plan right now for the next 6 weeks. We're going to use the 10" between the rear captains seats or that area in a downfiring box at 8 ohms on the lil wonders sub channel. The other 3 subs in a custom box(I hope)on 2 of the xt2000ds at 1 ohm

Too much!!! Are you old? J/k .. Just enjoying the rebirth of a long lost hobby I suppose Red.

peace

All them subs together won't sound anywhere as good as 2 nice 12's or 15's in a well designed enclosure... not to mention look cleaner. my .02

Sell some and match a nice set

I can believe that DS. The RE SXX 15 we're hoping to get does look like the SRX 12's we have. Same plain( as I like it) ' RE ' The 10" oddball will be downfiring and unseen ..
As usual it comes down to money. I have the 10" 4ohmdvc thats rated 700 rms and the 2 4ohm dvc 12s are only 300 rms each.... but our amps are 2 800 rms@1ohm mono blocks. We want SPL !!!!!

Essentially the drivers aren't good enough, we can manage just another $350-$450 for sub(s). Seems like the biggest spl numbers would come from adding one good sub (a 2ohm dvc for the one ohm load, which of course can cost way more than $450!! but it'll do) and using every sub we have, using every sub channel availible.

So down the line, should we need another driver ie. blowing the overpowered ones. Or I suppose if we can afford another 'good' sub, then the 2 'good' 15"s would provide us the same level of enjoyment.
Again I agree.

The 12"s could become " double bass woofers " running stereo..
ohh the possibilities with deep pockets!!

If it were me..... I'd sell all the subs and buy a couple 12's or 15's that are rated for around 750 rms. Get a good enclosure built for them and be done with it.

I know it sounds like a pain, but the end result will be more gratifying.

here is 2 15's that do 1000 each (they reduced it from 1000 to 800 as people where trying to push them to much).

IXL-15.2.2 [IXL-15.2.2] - $179.00 : Mach 5 Audio

i've got 2x 12's and they sound great to me, that being said i've only had 2 systems including mine.

Spawn- looks like it could be a good deal, nice find.

DS. I figured having the 10" for set eq'd high for the midbass , the 15" eq'd for lowlow and the 12"s set to do the inbetween frequencies would give good all music bass coverage.

Up until this site I didn't realize just how important a proper enclosure can be.
We would just buy or build a bigger box assuming for low bass or small boxes for tight fast bass.
We'd just fit the size of the sub to the box.
Can 2 'good' subs reproduce all the frequencies the 10 12 and 15 could if ithe 2 12"s had the proper box?

You really have me thinking of getting just 2-RE 12" SXX d2 ... Under $500 a pair, same power handling as the 15" . Finding an enclosure is gonna be hell around here, already has been

Is there any positives to my idea you see? We haven't ever had more than 2 subs before, I would love trying some more cone area

Dang, gotta make up my mind soon. Thanks DS

ya.... 2 12" RE SXX would sound good in 4cubes @ 36hz. Or 2 15's in 6-8 cubes.

Well. We managed to get the front doors and the rear 'compartment' that will house a few fuse/dist blocks etc. covered with a layer of Fatmat and 1 cap installed.
One layer on each surface of the door panels and compartment, Fatmat is very nice stuff, easy to install. It took about 30sq' to do the two doors, and the compartment.

One layer in each surface(front and back) is all street stock A is allowed I believe?

The pods we bought for cheap were made of thin plastic, so after cutting out the mounting holes, we covered the inside of them with fatmat also. We installed the crossovers under the dash.
The plastic door panel needed the speaker 'grills' cut out because they are a one piece skin. That gave space for the magnet and allowed some more air movement. We are still pondering the rear pods/comps placement.
The new Diamond Audio speakers sound great, probably the best I've owned, well worth the cost, haven't pushed them yet though. OOhh I will

I have never felt such a weighty tweeter that size before, and the silk tweeter is sooooo much more comfortable to the ears at any type of high volume!!

Other than that, because my bro has been moving, there not been much time. Still need pieces to get shipped anyhow. But we are on pace for making the june 27 show..knock on wood.

Here's a few more lame pics of what we got done, we didn't think of pictures until after installing everything on the doors so I didn't get a pic of the mat on the inside of the doors..ohhwell..

Yep. still me and my camera.. The compartment was for the bottle jack, nice metal plate to build off of, to add space inside for other hidden things I thought

coming together nicely I suppose, no more self imposed deadlines, sick of missing 'em...lol
