Just a note. Yuli i agree with you that in IASCA the term "SQL" is wrong. But this disqualification for over 135db?? Where are you getting that idea? 135db is the cap and the maximum points allowed is 35 meaning the 135db mark. Anything over doesnt matter as all you will recieve is the maximum 35 points. Also RTA only applies to rookie division and is subject to the head judges discretion as to whether or not to do it (indoor show with noise all around can be a reason). With that being said you can make modifications(see below) between SQ,RTA and SPL judging portions
USACi there is no limit on SPL and the higher you score the more points in that portion you get. SLAP there is no limit as well
1 more thing to mention is that you have time in between sections to make changes in eq, xover, etc as long as there is no change in equipment (ie woofers). But you can add stuff like a volume control or a headunit.
All in all I agree with you about 80-85% that there really isnt a mix that would win at both sides(SQ and SPL). What I would say is that the SQ guys have a better chance at winning SPL than the SPL guys at winning SQ. Why I say this is because at most of the comps I have been to I have seen most of the SPL do not maintain the attention to detail that SQ guys do because you do not need to in IdbL.
A couple more comments are that I am partial to the SQ side as I dont really see the full purpose of the SPL side. Now dont get me wrong I know that it takes alot of time, effort and skill to get the numbers you guys are putting out there but Im of the idea that music is to be heard not burped. Thats just my opinion and Im sure you look at us SQ guys and wonder why we spend hours upon hours trying to tweak our systems to possibly raise our stage a 1/4 of an inch.

Yuli - I know of only 2 cars that could accomplish your "mix". There may be others but these are the two I know of:
SpeakerWorks Grand National - Eric Holdaway has mentioned a few times that the car could pull a 150 with no change from it's SQ tuning. It DID have 3500watts though Of course you don't measure RTA at that output but it was only a matter of twisting the volume.
Mark ***uda's Blazer - He won first place IASCA Finals Pro1000+ class for SQ and set an SPL world record at the same time. I suppose 9000 watts or so helped do both
Extreme examples for sure. It would be tough to duplicate that kind of performance today with how specialized SPL has become.

Dukk, i also agree with everything u are saying.
defro, no one would try to accomplish sq at that level. u are simply trying to step away from the point u were trying to make....that 'sql' is a mix of both AND MIX MEANS MORE THAN ONE THING COMBINED AT THE SAME TIME, not either or!!!! is that so hard to understand. u found your mom's picture in the dictionary now look up the workd 'MIX' for ***k sakes. WHEN U TURN ONE THING OFF TO ACCOMPLISH THE OTHER IT'S NO LONGER A MIX THUS ITS NOT 'SQL'.

i think that yuli argues this point because he is only capable of going loud, and has very litlle capability of designing and creating a stereo that sounds good, dukk, i can see yulis reply now, "id like to see those systems measured on the term lab system, not the ac system, and btw who is this eric guy and what the heck is a ***uda, obviously no names in car audio and going loud cuz ive never heard of them", hey yuli, go have another hot dog, and yuli i never once mentioned the term sql in any of my posts, people keep giving you expamples of systems that can do exactly what you say they cant do, yet you fail too see it, dukk gave you 2 examples of many out there, those are just 2 better known ones, btw alot of the vehicles with horns out there are capable of concert level volumes
