Problem installing in my 2002 Ford Windstar

Ok I'm hoping something can help me here, I bought my wife a new Headunit for Mothersday (jvc 230) So I attempted to install it today.

Its in our 2002 Ford Winstar, I also picked up the Scosche double Din kit from Walmart and the Scosche FDK106F wireharness as well. Anyways went to go install it, pulled out the old 6 disc in dash changer ford deck ( has 2 connectors on the back) and go to wire up the FDK106F, matched all wires that I can see, but there is a square plug (red with 3 wires in it that was plugged into the back of the Ford Factory unit) I have no where to plug that in, I had assumed it was for hte rear radio controls in the Van. Anyways I hooked it all up, turn on the car, and I get no power, except if I hit the eject button on the cd player it shows power, tries to eject ( I can put a cd in at this point) but still it goes blank and no power, but I can hit eject and it will eject out the disc. I can only assume Its something in the wiring, And probably with that square connector. Anyways if someone could supply some ideas and advice I would appericate it.

Thanks Winky

I think that deck has a self power(eject, clock and cd in with no key in) I think it is your ACC wire you need to look at(the one that powers with the key turned on or back)

Well I went into Futureshop today, trying to get a different harness and there telling me I have to rewire the entire van since its got the rear controls for the Radio. Anyone have any experenice in this? I was hoping to get a harness to handle all of this (I dont need rear controls anymore) and advice would be great.

Thanks Winky

if you don`t want the rear controls there is no need to rewire it all.Your deck will work with only a ground, batt+,ACC and speaker outputs. This is all you need to hook it up.Do you have a DMM(digital multi meter)? If so find the power(hot at all times) your ACC(hot with key on or back) ground the deck and hook the speakers up and your done.Nothing more is realy needed unless you need the ilumination hooked up then find the one that shows a positive voltage with the lights on.Hope this helps

I guess I'll give that a whirl, but I was told that the Square plug from the Van (there is 2 plugs that go back into the Factory deck) was the one that controled the Speakers since it had a factory Amp. But I'm getting confused now lol
