so tonight we got started on the form for the fiberglass roof I will be doing. To say the least it was a huge disater. We put up thick plastic to cover the parts of the roof that weren't straight....then used wood forms to hold it..covered those in plastic and filled it with spray foam. The outcome....miserable...we clearly did not have enough spray foam...and after multiple laquer thinner cleaning and lots of burning, the spray foam is still on my hands. Tomorrow we plan on adding the remaining necessary spray foam and completing the form. The form willl require some mad sanding to be perfect....but it will happen. anyways, that was tonights progress, things will be going good from here if this works out!

Anyways, we are going to need 8 6.5" speakers for the bus and are wondering if anyone knows of a sponsorship opportunity for a party/bar bus in Calgary!!! We would be happpy to add the sponsor's name to our bus when we get it vinyl wrap. or if anyone has hook ups for speakers, a pair of amps and a pair of subs....that would make things way cheaper for us!

here is a link for sort of the bus we are looking at making.. http://www.bigthingslimo.com/images/Party_Bus_Interior_BLK.jpg
or this...

This is the basis for our design, the couches and the bars and a lot of other aspects will obviously be different....if anyone has any ideas/suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.

Storky45...is there any chance you could sen me some pics of your cousins friends bus??? Maybe put me in contact with them for some design ideas?? Basically any help would be greatly appreciated (although I understand it is a lot to ask...)

Pics will be added at some point for the beginning of construction....

smog lights are a damn good idea. May have to do that. We are going for a classier finish....neons may work but we will have to see. Any pics and help would be greatly appreciated.

About the subs....we are going to go with 2 12" subs under the back seats. 15" will not fit and are going to be a bit of overkill!!!

About the neon lights....do you need to buy special ones that will blink to the beat or do the normal ones do that?

you wont need too big of an inverter prolly 3000 watts would be more than enough (3000 watts is the equilalent of around 2 sepwrate 120 volt wall outlet circuits at max load)

inverters tend to be innefficent and waste power even when you are not drawing much power so an oversized inverter will waste even more of your battery....

most large modern tv's are very energy effient compared to the old glass clunkers.....

and even a awesome home audio system will all run off a single wall plug so it cant be drawing over 1500 watts...from the wall

of course your going to want to be running lights, beer fridge,, etc) so a 3000watt would be good..

as for batteries you will want at LEAST 4 batteries....use deep cycle marine or motorhome batteries...

also if you using a lot of power even with 4 batteries if you drawing 1500 watts continuous you woduld prolly be able to run for around an hour although you will probably be drawing much less than this...

...my parents cottage has a 12 volt inverter system with a 3000 watt inverter hooked up to 4 6 volt deep cycle batteries wired in series/paralell for 12 volts...at 1500 watts continuous the batteries will be running low after an hour or less...

this could be sick if it actully turns out...like someone mentioned i think you would be better getting some couch's in there then trying to do custom leather work....will be easier to stay on budget

I really can't see needing 4 batteries when the bus will only really be bumpin while running....Our motorhome can run a crapload of stuff for an entire weekend on just our 2 deep cycle 6v's. As for the Stereo, I think we will skip the invertor with home stereo as that is a lot of added power draw/expense at no real gain. wow...those 3000W invertors are really not very expensive....supirsing. Anhow...finishing the roof mold today, then i'm off to ontario for the weekend, got some carbon projects to do and then a roof build. Bus should be going in for an inspection in the next couple of days.

We have got some mad hook-ups for paint, upholstery, installation, and supplies so things should be cheaper than most would expect.

Any more pics/ideas? places to get cheap car audio equipment?
