Options..
Down the road I want to put four sealed Eclipse SW8200's in an 00 Sunfire GT. My bud already has three and we'd like to build a sweet system, so I plan to buy another SW + box(s)/amp(s). Now, I reeeeally doubt one big *** box can be thrown into this lil trunk. Should I use two or four sealed boxes (will they produce different sound)? I'm also wondering what kind of power I need. They are each 670W RMS, and I'd like to give them that (even though 2 sharing 750W got really loud at full tilt!). So, I need 2680W +/-. They are each single 4-ohm. What wiring and amp options do I have? Budget $1500 for amps.

A single amp would be the ideal way to go. A amp that makes it's power into 1 ohm would be my choice. Bassworx has a nice new amp that will fit this requirement for power and price.

For the boxes, it is going to depend on if and how you can construct them to get into the vehicle. If they are in a shared chamber, two subs each, that is fine. To try and put all 4 in one, not the best of ideas. Ideally, to keep the box stronger as well, make two boxes, chamber each box so that in essence you have 4 separate sealed enclosures. This way as well, should you ever damage one sub, the other ones can still be used and you can keep playing the system while even up to 3 subs can be out for service (not a likely situation however).

Can two SW's be wired up to an amp that is 1-ohm stable? Because I've got a "1500W" amp and I wired 2 SW's into 2 ohm (splits the power in half!), so they see about 375W each (V900XD 1500 @ 1, 750 @ 2). How can I get 750W to both, off the 1500 watter?

You can wire both subs to a 1 ohm mono amp, no issues with that but you cannot change the load past what it is. So two subs of this nature = 2 ohms net load, that is it, that is all. It pisses me off that they did not make them in dual 4 ohm.

Agree the Bassworx amp is pretty sweet, footprint is a little large but nice amp. RD Audio also makes a 3250 and matching 4 channels or 2 channels. If you decide on 2 subs for a 2ohm load you would get around 1500Wrms or 4 of them at a 1ohm load would give you the 3250Wrms. At $1500 you can without a doubt get a 3250 and matching 4 or 2 channel with matching heat sinks. Check them out www.rdaudio.net

RD 3250.1 looks SWEET. I have to ask, 4 SW's can be wired into 1 ohm? , and two SW's can only be wired into 2-ohm? So if you have two of these woofers you're kinda screwed on buying a 1-ohm amp . Never did get the ohms law too well, but working hands-on with stuff sure does helps! Is this amp mad expensive or what?

Not really screwed you just will not get the maximum potential from the amp. But when you do get 4 your well prepaired. If you are only thinking if getting two then strap two 1000.1D's together which gets you full power at 2ohms or the Clarion DPX11500 is full power at 2-1ohms. Sent PM about price
