New Install 06 Chev

Hi, I'm new here, just signed up. I'm not new to car audio, I've done all my installs myself and more than I'd like for freinds.
I just bought a new Monte Carlo and I'm going to install my Alpine 9855, 2 changers, 6 Pioneer amps, subs, Pioneer, JL & Eclipse speakers, etc.
I'm worried about replacing the GM radio and getting my alpine hooked up to steering wheel controls, onstar, door chimes, diagnostics, etc.
Also need a good faceplate, prefer one that looks like its made to be there?
Does anybody out there have any experice with interfacing to new vehiciles?

Any info (or help) would be appreciated. If and when I do get it all working, I'll pass on what works, what doesn't and any tips for anybody doing similar installs.

Thanx,

Tom

with those new cheverolet vehicles u may want to also check for an factory amplifier in the trunk it may be behind some panels or posibly next to the rear speakers. but try not to get it confused with the onstar box. but other that that metra cares an interface for doorchime, onstar, and dio. for gm vehicles.

Thank you for the reply. I emailed Metra, they said they have nothing for the 06, apparently its a new platform for GM.

Still looking.......

06 is still the same as an 05, no worries there, they will be changing in 07 however.

06 has changed for the Monty Carlo and Impalla. THe kit is a 99-3305 and it uses GM lan.

To my knowlegde the monte-carlos still use the Data bus 2 system that gm brought out in 2000.

Metra sells a harness(don't have the box right now for model number) that lets you keep your door chimes etc and on some cars change engine oil light. You also have a 12 volt wire in this harness like the pre 2000s did so you don't have to tap any wires to get power.Just like hooking up any other hu.

Now if you get just a regular metra harness you will need to find 12V source thow,(IE) tap into the ign wire with the wire fused.

I hope thats answered some of your questions.

Now i may be wrong and they did change it again

O they range anywhere from in CDN for $110 to 150

but just check online and you can get one for like $15.00 like i did
