NEED HELP WITH VINYL!!
#1
I'm in a bit of a bind here guys. I need a vinyl that will match the factory grey of a 2000 DODGE Neon. The grey is very dark (almost black). I've tried Importel will little success as well as some fabric places. I'm located in the Toronto area so if anyone knows of a place that I can get this colour please let me know.
Thanks

The dash. It's that really dark grey colour. Dye is what I've been told I will need to use to get a reasonable colour match. It dosent need to be perfect, but I would like it to be close. But perfect would be nice too. LOL!

What is involved in dyeing the vinyl??? I know that I need a darker colour to start with (black in my case) but what type of surface conditioning should I do? And will the spray dye look blotchy??
Thanks guys
Thanks guys

Use a vinyl prep after cleaning really well with soap and water. You need to get all the oils off the vinyl before you try to paint it.
Try to find a vinyl with a grain that matches...the colour doesn't matter if you're dying it.
I usually have good luck getting a good match by mixing black, grey, or white, and a bit of brown or red.
Make sure you use the proper glue to stick it down....regular fabric adhesive will turn to snot after it gets hot in the car...chemical reaction with the plasticisers in the vinyl.
Helmaprine, Helmatine are the best, but if you don't have a spray gun, then use V&S 1081.
Oh yeah...use good ventilation and a mask with that dye....it contains isocyanates...deadly stuff.
