Need help making my sub work
Hey guys, just did an install and now running into issues, was wondering if anyone could give me some insight.
My amp is a Alpine PDX-5 (but i am only using the monoblock part of the amp just because i am not changing my speakers, i had this amp from my previous car in which i did everything)
-my amp is getting power, so is my capacitor (oh and side note i had to use 0 gauge wiring because thats what the guy shipped me, i asked for 4, but he said he ran out of 4 gauge wiring kits so he sent me 0....)
-my deck is an alpine iva-w505, it is sending signal and turning on the amp and everything, my cap is working fine too, getting the necessary 14.2 volts. after everything was hooked up, my sub which is a JL 10w3v3 is barely barely even making a sound. if i put my hand on it i can just barely feel it moving even when i max everything out the sub woofer level on the deck, the gain and whatnot.
-i had a custom box built so i thought maybe the box was too big, so took a different sub from a buddies car and hooked it up, and that did the same thing.
I checked all the wiring on the back on the deck now, thats all connected properly, and i am running out of ideas.
i know for sure this amp was working cause it was working perfect when i took it out of my old car. A friend suggessted that the rca wire is faulty that we used from the deck to the amp, could that be it? it was brand new, but he said it didn't look "twisted" like all the other rca wires he had seen (he's done installs before)
anyone with ideas?

I always spend lots on rca's......streetwires 2.0 or up......dont be cheap on them......spend on minumum $100.00.....I've seen this same thing before when people hook up their power 1st, and drop the power wire on the amp......just an idea?

yeah i am not too sure what kind of RCA this guy sent me, i am gonna switch the RCA out and hopefully it works. Sorry just to clarify what do you mean drop the power wire on the amp?

haha.....sometimes we install stuff half snapped.....and instead of putting the power wire in the hole, we drop it on the amp ....forgeting that it was still hooked up to the battery......lol
it happens........most likely ur rca's or deck output's though

Anyways I think the reason your sub is moving is because every sub moves just a bit when its getting a singal cancelling out that the amp is the problem. Its the noice its not getting aka freq and what not. Do you have the rcas plugged into every right thing? Aka plugged into the rpoper in into the amp? Plugged properly into the back of the deck? Get someone to pull up to your amp and run their rca (if they are long enough) directly to your amp and just hook up the rcas from another vehicle. If that works (which it has for my friend) the output from your cd player is fried. Why? I dunno.
Friend had a JVC deck and it turned out to be the problem. Brand new too lol. Only solution was new deck. JVC has really shitty customer service IMO.
Anyways try new rca's from your deck if thatr doesnt work try someone elses rca's.
