i agree with sux 2bu and eli47! i know the shops in my area that are not reputable and that do bellow average work. but how does that make YOU look if you are will to talk trash about someone ellse other than insecure. i won't even talk bad about another shop if a customer asks me about it. instead i will just reashure them as to the work that my shop is able to preform and what we can do for them that the surrounding area can't! not that i don't see what u were getting at but it is just not a credable way to go about things.

its not bad mouthing to make someone look better that isn't what i meant at all. more just uncovering those who do wreckless damage to peoples cars not necessarily because they are newbies but moreso the people in the industry that have been in it long enough to know better but still proceed to damage customers vehicles and bring shame/damage business to the shop they represent. its not about bashing "he's a hack cause i dont like him blah blah" or any crap like that. just finding out who should probably be looking for a career change or a new life all together. not trying to newbie bash or start any fights, sorry it got misunderstood.

I used to have a section of "Scary Installs" on my site...............this crap would freak you out, about 90% of it was stuff that came into the shop, a few were sent to me. I had a few people email me and commented that it was a little unprofessional to have such a link (even though I would never post the installers name or shop)

Every installer has a bad day, a bad week and in turn a bad install.............to slander yourself and post such a person's name is a waste of time.

If the shop owner doesn't recognize that he has a "hack" working for him then his business is going to suffer and hopefully he will correct it.

To me the word "hack" is one of the worst things you could call someone in this industry, although there are far to many of them..............FAR TO MANY...................it allows people that do love their work and take some pride to shine above the others..................................

I think alot of shops are realizing that they can no longer cheap out on installers and bully them with regards to their wages..............with the new complex cars out there do you really want some MECP/Modile Dynamics grad with no experience working on a 40k + car.....................that thought alone scares me.............

Normally I would defend the quality of box store installers but in general and I mean in general they have nickle and timed the installers so much that most of the good ones have left and they are left with the no experience MECP/MD people that are willing to work............but if these people are not trained properly from the beginning.............................wow......... can you say DAMAGE CLAIMS !!

Attention to detail......integrity...........and ethics aren't something you can teach someone very easy............you kinda either have it or you don't....................

Enough of my rant.....................

Talking about "hacks" in the confines of your shop or with friends is one thing.........but that is where it should stay..............even though I would love to scream out a few names...........

All I can say is..................PAINT CANS

haha i was waiting for your input tim. you have a good point, let the hacks be hacks if they get busted or whatever thats thier business. just too bad what some people have to go through when they trust a company from prior experience and end up getting burned. paint cans indeed.

iv ebeen installing for 20 years and ive seen a lot of ****ty installs. ive seen some better work coming from guys in teir backyard than big stores. ive seen a lot of people trying to make a profession out of installing.there is people that want to do this they go to mobile dynamics and get the best training but they just cant do it and ive seen other people with no training working under a decent installer do very good work. i dont think putting a list is a good idea it would just be a battle between shops and everybody has to start somewhere and mistakes are going to be made as you learn from your mistakes
