I personally don't run rear speakers at all, they take away from overall system sound (in my opinion)...to me, the most important speakers in any system are the front two midrange speakers...if you disagree, that's cool, but let me know now because I wont be of any help to you.

Yes, I think the PA amp will probably do just fine.

and no, more power wont be sent to the other channels. tape up the unused ones.

you ever gone to a concert and sat with your back to the stage?
ever go to an opera where the singers stand behind you?
when you listen at home, where do you like the speakers placed?...behind you somewhere?
when you get right into a video on mtv do you turn your back to the tv?

although if you are going to be running some kind of processor with 5.1 for movies, in that case I do like rear speakers.

I have a dvd player too, but no 5.1 as I don't watch movies on it, personally choice I suppose.

I wouldn't even worry about the big three until the rest is in and see if you even need to do it, I'm a cheap bastage and don't do anything until I need to.

and if you do need to, 4awg added to your factory wiring should be plenty.

if you are going to do the big 3 whenever you want to go big now or regret later 0gauge would do fine

I would also use the 4 channel and run bridged for sub and other 2 channels for fronts.. if need be power the rear with the deck, just to say theirs music in the back for friends (even tho I agree with MTT, I have rearfill) and that should be more then enough, I ran like this withthe 4 channel for over a year, loved it ! and those a/b amps are clean power for your sub !
