Mustang Factory Amplifier bypass ????
#1
I have a friend with a 99 Mustang which has the Mach 460 audio upgrade in it. He wants to use all the factory speakers but use an after market amp (and deck)to drive them. Does anyone here have info on the systems wiring layout and colour scheme?
Thanks

Fach the Mach...
Best thing to do is locate the factory amp(s) first of all. Normally in the 'Stangs it will be located in the trunk. I don't think the colours will necessarily match typical Ford colours at the harness, so you may just have to pull out the plug and start probing wires with a multimeter. There is an amp bypass harness available, although it's normally used in Probes, and I'm not certain if it will work with a Mustang. You could always "rent" one from a local shop, see if it plugs in and hopefully it will give you some insight into speaker wires. Other than that, grab a DMM and/or a speaker tester and start probing wires.
