i have a kaption d700.1. i`m narrowing my selection of subs down but i`ve reached a crossroad. that amp claims being stable at 1ohm, and i spoke to the tech guy there and he said the amp makes its best power into 1 ohm, but i`ve had alot of differences of opinion. some say not to run it into 1, but run it 2ohm. so my selection of subs now is critical. do i go with 2 4ohm dvc to go into 1ohm, or 2 2ohm svc to get 2ohm? i`m really stuck because i`ve been warned about running some amps in mono. can anybody help?

I would trust the experts & if Kaption says that this amplifier works best at a one ohm load, I guess that's what it does.
Although I don't know much about this amplifier, judging by the model number I assume it makes 700 watts at one ohm? What kind of power does it make at two ohms? What size of subwoofers are you considering & what type of enclosure?
These are all factors to consider.

it makes 500 at 2ohm. this is the problem. some say to run it at 2ohm which changes what subs or sub to get. if i run it at 2, then its recommended to run (for example) 1 alpine type r, or 2 type s`s, but if i run it at 1ohm, i can use 2 type r`s. its very per-plexing to say the least especially because i am new to the sub scene after taking a break from car audio for a few years now. thats the delema.

well one of the main differences is that u need to decide if u want dinamic range or if ya just want lots of power? so if u are doing sq running it at two ohms or even four for that matter is not a bad idea. however if you want the things to hammer like in a ported enclosure then run it at 1 ohm. oh and there is nothing rong with running an amp in mono as long as the gear is designed for it. if the manufacture says that u can than u can!

Run it at 1 ohm. The tech guy said its good to go, so why not. The amp is built to perform that way. You might as well get the power you paid for.

thanks for the advice guys. i called the tech again and he assured me to run at at 1, so 1 it is. i would love to have a sq setup, but its going in the trunk of a malibu, and i have a board mounted for my amps against the back seat so i have a feeling that i should get all the power i can get to drive the sound around. thanks again.

Just be sure to keep the voltage up in a 1 ohm set-up. Most amps at that load are very voltage sensitive, so use good wire, ANL fuse, and do the Big Three.
