Mazda 3........

Has anyone done any installs on the new mazda 3's? I doubt there are any aftermarket dash kits for headunits because well....it would take out like 3/4 of the middle section of the dash. At any rate, my friend wants to keep the headunit/stock speakers in his new 3 and add a subwoofer. SO I was thinking about just using a line-out converter such as this: http://www.davidnavone.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=N-85 or this: http://www.genuinecanadianaudio.com/...roducts_id=263
Is this a better option than using the High-level inputs on the amp?
Also....Where have you guys run the power wire on these cars? I would assume that the busy installers have done at least a few installs on these cars.

Just make sure the 3 does not have the Bose (Blows) system in it. It will make using the LOC difficult. I have a 6 that came with Bose, and when I went to go but an amp in the first week I had it, the bose system caused some major hiccups with the LOC. If the car has Bose, get an adjustable LOC and get the pos. outputs from the excternal bose amp under the seat. It should make things a little easier.

The last new Mazda I did (RX8) had a Bose system in it and a similar non removeable (easily that is) factory cd player. All we ended up doing was finding out that the factory head put out more gain on the front section than the rears, we integrated in a Audio Control EQS and the problem was solved. The EQS in this case has the built in LOC or the capability of simply soldering on male rca connectors to the output signal wires from the deck to the factory Bose amp. Either method proved to work just fine. If you need more info I'll be glad to help.

excellent, thanks guys. I don't think the 3's are available with the bose system (he picks his car up in a week or two)...so I might just end up using an LOC. Can they actually sound nearly as good as an aftermarket deck?

If a good quality LOC is used, the difference is not that much. Try the Audio Control route as it is much more than just a LOC with adjustable inputs, it is also a 6 channel eq and a line driver.
