louder with windows open?

Alright i've found the bass hits harder when my windows are open u can tell the difference just by openin them instantly...
Anyone know why this is? and what i might do to fix it
My sub is in my trunk facing backwards...
in a sealed box and im pushing it with my alpine mrd m500
and its a big cadillac...

Hm usually though facing them backwards solves the standing wave problem, as opposed to facing forward. But saying you have a big Cadillac may be key because your distance from your sub facing backwards to the trunk rear wall could be the same as newer, smaller car would be from the subs facing forward at the front of the trunk to the rear wall.
Facing them forward might work for you. It could create a standing wave at a frequency lower than what the bass you listen to would be at. Chances are though you would still hear it in which case it might be best if you faced them forward and seperated the sub baffle from the trunk area with tight fitting trim panels. This eliminates the rear wave from interferring with the front.
