Looking for different location to mount tweeter (Pics included)
Ok...So here you will see where the tweeter is mounted for my component set, I'm thinking about moving the location closer to the mid for obvious reasons. Seems to be too bright up high and I'd like to get the best imaging I can.
The red circle is the area I was thinking, It's really the only other flat surface I can mount to in this car.
But then I was thinking the crank would be in the way, And I know if something is in front of the tweeter it will effect the sound. But I think I can get away with it if I put the tweeter around 12" away from the mid which would be a lot closer than it is now. Right now the tweeter is over 2' from the mid.
Any suggestions guys? Would really like to take care of this once I get my amp!

I think you put too much value on having the tweet closer to the mid. IMO if a choice is to be made it is more important to get the speakers in the right spot rather than close together.
If you want to improve your imaging I would try the tweeter farther forward where the Apillar meets the dash and windshield or in the kickpanel.

If imaging is a concern the map pocket is not the way to go, especially if you ever have a passenger. The map pocket will most likely give great imaging for your ankles though.
Dukk points out 2 good locations, you might want put 3 feet of wire on the tweeter and move the the tweeter around ( holding it in place with no residue blue masking tape) till you find the location that meets your needs of a smoother treble and good imaging (in your car). I would also check out the area on the door panel by the vent facing in or on top of the door panel facing up.
