Labour estimate?

I'm not talking dollars, i'm talking time.

How long do you think it should take to do the following:

1. Install front components into stock locations.
2. Install 5.25 coaxials into stock rear locations.
3. Mount, wire, and setup a 4 channel amp in bridged mode to power front comps only.
4. Install a HU, and wire rear coaxials into it.

4.5 hours?

I am going to get quotes from a few shops, but wanted some opinions before I go seeking those.

Thanks folks.

for what it's worth, it's an '03 WRX Wagon.

... i know spacers will be required for the speakers in doors. I can purchase those online. Just need to figure out the depth required.

So what makes it take way more time, one vehicle to the next, exactly?

... nice to see someone from the island on here btw!

some vehicles are harder to work on then others such as mine i drive a bmw its a pain to work on , the wrx shouldnt be to bad id say your 4.5 hrs is a good estimate for that car

btw thanks , glad to see other islanders on here its tough finding audio enthusiasts on the island anymore , plz dont go to sound solutions in victoria they are a rip off , I suggest elevated audio in vic , or klean kustoms here in duncan i know the owner and can get u a great deal on an install

I've never liked the 'vibe' at sound solutions.

Had a HU installed at Ralph's years ago, the wiring harness was crap so i took it back a few times. It was a free install. After the second trip back, I had enough and settle for whackin the dash of my old explorer whenever it got loose, to fix it. Some 'free' install.

I have to admit, I like the vibe out at McKay's in colwood. They also 'only' charge $69 an hour for labour, where all other shops locally seem to be $80+. They also seem like they back their product, as well as install, really well. I got my Hertz HSK165's there boxing week.

Never been into Elevated, talked with em on the phone though.

Why don't you ask your friend what it will cost to do what I mentioned, roughly? See what he says.

(fwiw, i don't have the amp yet, gonna get it from someone on here soon i think) ... nor do I have a HU yet. I've got speakers though

Another 'hidden' cost that i'm unsure of is all the OTHER stuff needed. RCA's, Amp power wiring, speaker wire from amp to speakers, etc. What's all that ***** cost?

suggest klean kustoms here in town if they were doing your install they would do all the wiring cheap as hell
250 748 8499 ask for brad if u tell him luke gave u the info he will give u a deal im a personal friend

makays is pretty much a tv shop they used to be big into audio but have left it in the past , sound solutions doesnt warranty anything , and they will pressure into buying all massive , which we all know is crap they wanted 80 dollors for a anl fuse holder lol

but if you wanted to stay local elevated audio on gorge does very good work as well a bit more money then klean kustoms tho

When's the last time you were into MacKays? They had a pretty decent car audio area.
Yeah, they have lots of home theatre too... but they have some really nice mobile gear, it seemed to me. Not like a dozen soundboards or anything, but adequate.

And it's nice and clean in there... not like Ralphs, Sound Solutions, and even Speed of Sound ... they all are either A. dirty B. darkly lit C. messy or D. all of the above.

At least MacKays isnt any of those, they at least have their together as a business.

... i'm not phoning up your poor friend and dropping a name, lol, he'll totally roll his eyes and give me a normal price, or worse!
Maybe i'll just call em and get a quote
