i cant find the name of the place i got those from but check these guys out Canadian Brass & Copper Co. :: Home they were almost the same price.

Depends on what you are going to do.

If you want to attach ring terminals to it with nuts and bolts, then 1/4" is plenty.

If you want to tap the bar and bolt the ring terminals directly to the bar, then I would consider 3/8" or 1/2". If you want to do it up like Yuli's then you're going to need 1" or thicker depending on the thickness of the wire.

Copper is best, but you can use aluminum for this as well.
