illumination wire

What I’m confused here about the wire
If the deck goes dim when you turn on the lights *some do* because you turn on the lights at night usually the deck is too bright so it auto dims.
OR you could be running very bright lights and drawn to much power.

this isn't complicated...
during the day, with glare from the sun, or whatever it is at X brightness, but at night that same brightness could be considered a disrtaction to some, especially is you have an animated display, or things flashing on the screen. So when you turn on your headlights, it assumes it's 'dark' and dims it, so that in a dark cabin you don't have bright flashing lights to distract you, as at night, a dimmed display is still highly visable.

the wire your looking for is:
grund or open when the car is off
ground or open when the car is on
12v when the headlight or parklight is on
if it has 12v on the headlight or parklight wire, adjust the dimmer, if it fades from 12v to a lesser value, you are on the dimmer wire...which is the wrong wire.
if you do not understand this post, you should't install a head-unit...

I like using the "illumination wire" if I am going to be driving on the highway alot at night (like when I had to travel all over BC) -- the glare of a very bright deck will drive you batty at 3am. In the city it does not make a big difference as most streets are lit.
