Find out if the noise is present with all sources of audio, not just cd. If it is, to me it is indicitave of a problem with the cd player itself.

I just read the whole manual and found nothing about the rear preouts. Only "special" thing i saw was FIE control (Front Image Enhancement).

Interesting you say it whines (increases and decreases) with the car off as well. Are all accessories off also? Just in case the wiring is funky somehow and it is wired up to the blower motor or something weird.

A simple way to test Robs idea is to toss the factory deck back in, or another aftermarket one. If it works with no problem, then he is correct I would say.

Cheers

ill look into finidng another HU to try and hook up and see if it is the amp... or a feedback issue b/c the rears are pulling double duty...

whining noise is present while using all media sources.

When checking into the fading issue, try all of the following. For each condition fade to both extremes and let us know what you hear:
  1. Sub and amp connected.
  2. Sub wires disconnected (at amp end).
  3. Amp disconnected (both RCA's and remote wire).

Never mind with the remote wire, there is probably a ground loop. Do you have a multimeter?

i figured eveyrthing out!!! all i had to do was take the shitty pioneed deck out and throw it against a wall, take my trusty hammer and hit it a few times.... the kick it against the wall a few times.... then throw it down the street.... and THEN replace it with an alpine headunit that is actually made well!

now EVERYTHING works PERFECT..... *@#()$!(&!@#@!)(*#!)#*!)(*$)!*#)@!*#! PIONEER!!!!

Cool, glad to hear you got it solved. I had a feeling it might have been another case of "Pioneer induced noise" LOL What model Alpine did you get? What do you think of it.

I just hooked up my amps using an LOC and RCAs and Im getting the whine from the speakers too. I get it even when the radio is off, and it varies with engine speed.
However when I use the speaker level inputs its fine. Just connecting in the LOC(tried with and without grounding it) right beside the amp using the same wires from the HU seems to add the noise.
So, I dont think its the head unit, and the amp is ok unless its just the RCA circuit. I only have one LOC so I cant swap it to check. I could try other RCAs, but the only other ones I have are for home audio, and pretty cheap.
Any other suggestions?

Ok I tried changing out the RCAs with others I had, no difference.
I dont think its a bad ground because the battery is in the back, amps are wired directly to it, both positive and negative.
Help?
