Help!! Subwoofers wont turn on
#12
Alright try this, connect your rca's from your headunit to another source, like an ipod( with y adapter) a radio, anything else and see if it works.
Or, use a double a battery to test the subs. Put the + and _ on the battery and see/hear if the speakers move/make a noise.

ill try it. I took out the subs from the case and noticed that the copper wire is burned. IMG_20121216_195836.jpg photo by monkeyizraw | Photobucket Is this why there not turning on? Everything looks like its connected properly.

I would measure the impedance first. If still nothing, connect any mp3 player or even your phone directly to the preamp inout of your amp with the proper cable to bypass or isolate the headunit problem. if your not getting any output at this point, your subs could be out of phase which means that it needs to re-wire internally. Where about are you?

easiest thing to do here is to hook another woofer to the amp and try it. if it works obviously your subs are the problem. You had mentioned earlier the copper wire is burnt, that is the tinsel lead that ends up at the voice coil, sounds to me your woofers are toast. Invest in a good multimeter, this would eliminate a lot of time. Here is an easy test for you, remove the speaker leads from your amp, take a 9 volt battery and touch - to - then tap the + lead of the wire to the + of the 9 volt battery, if your here a thump and the woofer moves your subs are working ( you will still need a multimeter to see what the impedance is at, you don't want to end up damaging your amp because of improper impedance from the woofers) if they don't do anything, there toast.
