hey sorry for the lack of reply, yes I did exactly what you told me to do, newbie error on my part not running wire to the speakers. They sound awesome, but now I have another question as said previously the amp is Pioneer GM9500F 4 channel, how would I go about running the speakers off of it as I am now, and leaving a channel open for a sub? would there be a great sound loss ?

It would be asking alot of the amp and you would lose fader control, but you could run the lefts on one channel, the rights on the other in parallel. channel 3 & 4 could be bridged and used for a sub. I would run a mono amp on top of the 4 ch though, I think you'd find the results far more satisfying

okay thanks, I was thinking of just leaving it as is anyways each speaker having its own channel. or do you think its smarter to loose the fader control and then bridge the speakers to give them the extra power?

Leave it as is and go with the second amp for the sub. That will keep everything happy and you won't overheat your amp by trying to push it too hard. Your amp should make plenty of power unbridged for your speakers.

I would leave it the way it is. If you want more power, buy an amp that has it, don't try and squeeze it out of the one you have, it just has bad news written all over it. Besides, you will have more tuneability running the 4 ch and mono.

Does the amp have a crossover built in? Sometimes there's a button to change what the output is. If there are,try it with it(or them)pressed in. I know I had that same issue with a Rockford x-over I was running.

What? We're not even at the crossover stage nor has anyone mentioned it .

Yeah I think I just need to mess around with the settings a bit more, I let a friend set up the gains etc. but I still feel like they aren't that loud, time I tried by trail and error, thanks for the help everyone!

One more question, Should I get a down firing Box for my sub or a side firing ? I was looking at the JL stealth box but its to expensive, would I really notice a difference if I went with there box? or if I went with the same sub just a difference box ?

What is the vehicle? The only reason I can see for a down firing sub would be in a truck where space is tight and it's tucked under a seat or armrest/console.
