Well the question was what does it take to win trophies, not what does it take to be a dedicated competitor and travel around to shows.

He's not asking what it's going to take to go partially all out or all out.. to win trophies at local shows doesn't take much..

Either way I don't think there was a need for everyone to come and **** on his thread, he was just asking a question

this post has gone very gay very fast. no one had mentioned the most important thing u need to win in spl. and it's help from knowledgeble spl competitors.
Dan the reason u got trophies for $800 is b/c u only competition was Jeff. Now Keyur and Chris have come out to play in your class and Johhny also probably. We will see how fast that $800 will turn into thousands when u gonna want better gear to win.

Most important thing in spl (as well as sq) is that u have to know wtf u are doing. if u dont know shiit all all the money and power wont help u. Find someone who knows something, learn and ask question.....THEN get a wallet and power.

I never said I could drop $200 out of my current system.

I 100% agree with you man...

With a lot of help from friends like LBKC,I have less than $800 in my whooe system and I have trophies sitting on my shelf..

Sure..The best I've done has been second...But that was second behind Rob himself..which I dont mind...

It doesnt take a big wallet..It takes brains.!!!

If you think reality is pissing on the thread then yes some people are doing that. Like Yuli said (my god, am I agreeing with him) you guys go to local shows, so he will have to compete against people ike you who have more knowledge, and probably just as much or more money. I know of at least 4 people coming to the Hat for a "local" show from as far away as Edmonton which is a 5 hour drive. Do you see where I am going with this, it takes money to be competitive at any level nowadays. </font>
That's why I am only trying to do sanctioned events this year, leave the local shows for the local people..

I still think that it is possible to be competitive for a reasonable amount of money.. money is not all it takes to be competitive

See around here there are no unsanctioned shows, so we might have a difference in perception there. And yes I will agree that alot of knowledge can help bring costs down at unsanctioned shows. </font>
ahhhhhhhh.. out here we have probably more unsanctioned local shows then sanctioned events..
